Monday recruiting notes - a few more notes just added
-A&M commits Hezekiah Jones and Keldrick Carper took a trip to South Bend this past weekend to see Notre Dame take on Sparty. A source that covers Irish recruiting told me last night that while both kids had a great time, "A&M has nothing to worry about at this point in time." I believe Jason alluded to the trips as a 'just for fun' type of deal and didn't believe you'd see much sway out of either kid. It looks like he was right.-The Aggies are the home team this weekend in Arlington against Arkansas - meaning they can have recruits come see the game. We will have that full list later in the week as we get confirmations, but it could be a pretty impressive group. In fact, as I'm typing this, I got confirmation from 2018 Manvel WR Jalen Preston that he has made plans to be at the game. Preston is TexAgs' number two player in the 2018 class.-I'd bet there's going to be some more 2018 offers go out this week, and there are a few top prospects that would vault the Aggies to the front of the line should they receive an offer - guys like CyCreek WR Miles Battle, Houston Lamar WR Al'vonte Woodard, or Ridge Point's Chad Bailey at LB. I'm also keeping my eye on some IMG guys. Jason and I have both heard some of the A&M brass could be taking a trip out to Bradenton soon to put their eyes on some guys. As Jason said during last Friday's UTL article, a possible date for that trip to Bradenton would be during the Ags' bye week in October.-How big was the recruiting win for Trayveon Williams? I've watched him put that Auburn DB on skates about 5-10 times now. That kid is filthy in the open field. -A couple of 2017 WR names to watch: Taylor's Malik Jackson and Giddings' Chabastin Taylor. The Ags are still looking at how they'll finish out their class at WR, and while there are certainly other guys ahead of these two at the moment, both 6-3, 200 pounders are off to a great start to their senior campaigns. I talked to two Big 12 coaches over the last few days that loved what they saw out of Taylor last Friday night. -Speaking of Friday, I forgot to post my notes on the 2018 Moore brothers from Yoakum (late night then early morning for fall baseball stuff). Anyway, much of the talk surrounding DB Jordan Moore has certainly had a Burnt Orange feel. I left Friday thinking that may not be as much of a sure thing as some feel. Jordan has been really impressed with the Aggie DB's and could envision himself in Chief's defense. Both he and Joshua Moore were all smiles when talking about the Aggies, their relationship with the coaches, and their relationship with the other A&M recruits. Jordan will decide in December and josh will decide next summer. While they would like to play together, it isn't necessarily set in stone that they'll go to the same school. In fact, a source close to both told me "if they like different places, there's no doubt they'd separate." The Moore's are related to West Virginia WR coach Tyrone Carrier. While the Mountaineers aren't thought to be a player for each kid currently, Carrier did play for (and had big numbers for) Kevin Sumlin during his playing career at Houston.********************Thought I'd jump in with a couple notes of my ownAs Braun mentioned, I wouldn't try to read too much into Hezekiah Jones and Keldrick Carper taking a few visits. It does look like they had a good time on the trips but these two definitely have strong feelings for the Aggies and are enrolling early. They'll both take their official visits to A&M for the Tennessee game. Here's a link to a pretty cool diary Hez wrote last week. He gives some cool insight into his thought process. Also DT target Deiontae Watts committed to Nebraska over the weekend while he was on his official visitquote:This is not too concerning of a development for Texas A&M's DL recruiting and he remains a guy to watch since he did have the Aggies high on his list before the season. Still Texas A&M remains in good standing with several DL prospects including both Joshua Rogers and Ondario Robinson who have appeared to be leaning A&M for the last few months.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
