Monday recruiting notes
-If you're looking for some light at the end of the receiver tunnel, I got some good returns from a pair of solid sources for both CeeDee Lamb and Tarik Black. With Jhamon Ausbon's commitment to LSU (big get for the Tigers, but I think the Ags will continue to pursue), the Bayou Bengals look to have closed shop on their WR group for this class. LSU was seemingly out front for Lamb for a bit, but now it looks like the Aggies and Sooners are the top two choices for the talented pass catcher from Richmond Foster. The source I spoke with was adamant that a Kellen Mond decision in favor of the Maroon and White would swing the pendulum heavily in the Ags' favor in regards to Lamb. When A&M offered Black a month or so ago, I spoke to a guy in a similar line of work that actually lives near Tarik and his family in Connecticut. At the time, he called Notre Dame and Stanford his leaders and said it would be a long shot for A&M to even get Black on campus. He now says those odds have changed a bit. He told me Black is now considering taking a trip to Aggieland as Tarik is intrigued by playing in the SEC. I'd still call the chances slim but, as we've said before, getting out of state kids to campus is the biggest key. I'll be interested to see if the Aggies can crack Tarik's visit list. -Spoke to two Austin area sources about Hutto DE Ondario Robinson, and they pumped out the same stuff we (Jason and I) have been hearing. The Aggies are out front here as Ondario still plans to announce his college commitment at his first game this season. It also doesn't hurt that a friend of his, Tristen Bayless, just committed to A&M to play baseball. -Another priority in-state target is Ft Bend Elkins LB Kenneth Murray. Murray will make his college decision on August 10th. I spoke to Kenneth a bit about his decision. The Aggies remain steadily in the hunt along with Texas and Oklahoma. Based on some conversations I've had, I'd actually say the Ags have the momentum at the moment, but they also had the longest road to navigate to land Murray. Texas folks believe he is theirs to lose. -Ran into a couple of coaches yesterday that told me the Aggies continue to sit pretty with Joshua Rogers of Houston Christian. Josh hasn't set a date for his decision and has said he'll commit whenever he feels comfortable. There's a good bet though that it's before his senior season.-Baseball recruiting note: be on the lookout for the Ags to land a high profile 2017 arm in the near future.

Friday night recruiting notes
Few quick hitters as we head into the weekend. -This line of work can show you how small the world is sometimes. Talked to a source that I haven't spoken with in awhile who actually knows recent A&M WR offer Tarik Black rather well. He basically echoed the 'company line' if you will about getting guys from across the country to A&M. Basically, if the Ags can't get him on campus, they've got no shot. Right now, it looks like Notre Dame and Stanford are two of Tarik's top choices. -Still hearing good things on the Tyree Johnson front. Ags are standing tall there. -Spoke again today with Debione Renfro for a bit. He's really excited about a potential A&M offer. If Renfro ends up an Aggie at some point down the road, the DB class would be 6-1 Devin Morris, 6-4 Myles Jones, 6-2 Derrick Tucker, and 6-3 Renfro. That's some serious length, especially when you combine it with 6-5 Clifford Chattman, 6-2 Ikenna Okeke, 6-2 Charles Oliver, and 6-1 Travon Fuller in the 2016 group. -Another name we mentioned a while back that the Aggies have been talking with is PNG TE/WR Keynel McZeal. McZeal has been in contact with Jeff Banks and plans to visit and camp at A&M next weekend. -Lastly, I spoke with a rather prominent in state recruit today to get his reaction to what is going on in Waco. This is a kid that's being recruited by a large number of schools, including Baylor. He expressed apprehension about the program and said this would have an effect on his relationship with them. I suspect this would be the case with many of the recruits for the time being. It'll be interesting to see how that dynamic plays out over the next cycle or two. That's it for me. Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend and be safe.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
