Recruiting Battles: Texas A&M Aggies vs. South Carolina Gamecocks
Texas A&M and South Carolina rarely go toe-to-toe on the recruiting trail, but there are players on each team who were offered by both programs. Jason Howell dives into the biggest names both the Aggies and Gamecocks tried to land.
Tyree Johnson post visit notes
The DC native and former teammate of A&M signee Aaron Hansford made his first trip to College Station this weekend. I know from speaking to him beforehand how much he was really looking forward to making the trip to the Lone Star State. While he wasn't ready to name a group of favorites, he did tell me that A&M was no doubt near the top for him. He spoke at length about Terry Price, John Chavis, and his relationship with Hansford. It sounds like Aaron will play a big role in helping Tyree navigate the recruiting process. Johnson said a decision could happen anytime so we'll keep tabs on him. He gave me some really great quotes about A&M. He really enjoyed his time. He said Chavis' defense "really fits what I like to do." I'll have a full story this week.
New signees on their way to campus
In addition to the 2017 & 2018 recruits that will be tripping to Aggieland this weekend, a large contingent from the recently signed 2016 class will be here as well. Some names you can expect to see around Kyle Field tomorrow are:Tyrel Dodson Austin Anderson Riley Anderson Quartney Davis Aaron Hansford Nick Starkel Clifford Chattman (maybe)Clyde Chriss (maybe)
Big OOS visitor for Spring Game
A while ago, Washington DC defensive end Tyree Johnson mentioned he'd really like to make the trip down for the Spring Game. Well, the big man from St John's College HS tells me this morning that he is indeed coming down this weekend. He'll be making the trip along with former teammate and A&M signee Aaron Hansford.
Big DL name to attend Spring Game
The Aggies getting back into Kyle Field for the Spring Game should be a great recruiting opportunity, and I've found out tonight that a highly recruited out-of-state defensive end has already made plans to make the trip to Aggieland for that weekend in April.Washington DC's Tyree Johnson will be flying down for the weekend to get his first taste of Aggieland. Tyree told me a while back that he wanted to see Texas A&M before the spring had ended, and it looks like he's going to make good on that. Tyree's teammate and A&M signee Aaron Hansford will also be in town taking in the game that weekend.
