Recruiting Rankings Update: Shifts in classes of 2027, 2028 & 2029
With spring football in action and camp and official visit season on the horizon, it’s time for our recruiting team at TexAgs to update the player rankings within the great state of Texas. Updates were made to the 2027 and 2028 lists, with a "watchlist" being expanded for 2029.

Wednesday Recruiting Notes
A few quick notes as we build toward another big weekend First, I can confirm Duncanville (TX) 2026 DE and Florida commit KJ Ford plans to return to College Station this weekend. As we have said before the Aggies and Ford have had a long relationship. He was one of Texas A&M's first 2026 offers, and he has visited multiple times over the years. Him being on campus means there is at least some mutual interest as both Ford and Texas A&M figure out their next steps with the December Signing Period less than a month away, and it remains something we are monitoring. Second, Waxahachie (TX) 2027 S JayQuan Snell plans to be back in College Station. Texas A&M has been among his top schools, but the last report had other programs Ohio State, Texas Tech, and Texas in particular making a strong move. Getting him back on campus goes a long way toward stemming that tide, and it is not hard to imagine another strong visit would go a long way for Texas A&M's chances. This weekend is going to be a big recruiting weekend, but I am already hearing some Friday night playoff games could impact the ability of a few prospects to make it to town. It is an early 11 am kickoff and it is playoff time and a lot of teams have meetings and team prep on Saturday. Gilmer 2027 OL Ismael Camara and Denton Guyer 2027 DE Zane Rowe are a couple I have heard who could potentially be impacted. A young standout to watch is Waco La Vega 2029 Edge Eddison King. At 6-2, 225, he has been clocked at 4.65 in the 40, and he already holds offers from Baylor, Kansas, SMU, and Texas Tech. This fall he leads La Vega with 8 sacks and is second on the team with 11 TFLs in 10 games. He also trains with James Reed who has been a long time trainer for 2026 standouts KJ Ford and Landon Barnes and many others over the years. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/27020380/68f4cb21d919868e1ed25a15

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Considered one of the top 250 prospects in the state. Has the physical skills to be a potential contributor at a D-1 program over the course of his collegiate career with significant development. Professional potential is low.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
