*******2025 Dallas Under Armour Camp Preview and Live Thread *******
I'm about to head over to Melissa, should be about 8:15 when guys start to arrive. Here's a rough schedule of the day's action-Defensive Line/Offensive Line: 8:45-11:15 a.m.-Linebackers/Running Backs: 9:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.-Quarterbacks/Wide Receivers/Defensive Backs: 11:15 a.m.-2:15 p.m.They will be measured and tested. Those results are not posted but I'll work to see what I can get. They'll also do 1-on-1s and position drills. Typical camp stuff. Here's some thoughts and notes and guys to watchPre-camp MVP PredictionsQB: Peyton Houston, Shreveport (LA) Evangel Christian - polished, accurate, big armRB: KJ Edwards, Carthage (TX) - versatile skillset with burst and speed to shine WR: Trenton Yancey, Duncanville (TX) - A strong physical build and an explosive athlete capable of creating separation as well as making the contested circus catch. OL: John Turntine, Crowley (TX) North Crowley - light on his feet, technically sound, great flexibility, powerful handsDL: Khyren Haywood, Denton (TX) Guyer - speed on the interior with an arsenal of moves to win in one-on-onestends to show well in one-on-ones which is always a question for LBs in these settingsDB: John Meredith, Euless (TX) Trinity - length and speed and the size to get physicalSome More Pre-camp SuperlativesMost likely to pass the eye test: Myson Johnson-Cook, DeSoto (TX) - checks in at a solid 6-foot-3, 220Sleeper capable of emerging strong: DE Landon Barnes, Duncanville (TX) - the offers are starting to Out of State standout: OL Evan Goodwin, Little Rock (AR) Pulaski Academy - caught my eye last summer on the camp circuit, earned his Texas A&M offer in June, and one of the best in ArkansasIntrigued to see: OL Chase Elrod, Seminole (TX) - 6-7, 265 with Baylor and Texas Tech offersSurprised I haven't mentioned him yet: QB Kavian Bryant, Palestine (TX) Westwood - one of the top prospects in attendance, and he tends to shine on the big stageSome quick questions-Will Legend Bey work at other positions? He is listed at QB, but has embraced the idea of being recruited as an ATH. If he does, look for him to line up at WR. -What will be highest performing position? My bet is on a stacked OL group with several of the state's best, but WR is really strong as well.-Who is the guy not mentioned yet TexAgs subs should watch out for? If WR Kaydon Finley and DE KJ Ford are in action this weekend, expect them to do what they tend to do which is handle business in a dominant manner.-Who is the prospect without a Texas A&M offer, Aggie fans could hear quite a bit about today? RB Christian Rhodes is a big back at 6-1, 200 with track speed and a versatile skillset. Committed to SMU, but this is an environment he could easily shine.-Who will emerge from off the radar to take home MVP honors? It happens every year. Last year Noah Best and Emeka Ugorji earned OL MVPs and Ali Vinson took home LB honors. In 2023 Paul Mencke took home DB honors alongside a young Jermaine Bishop. It seems to happen every year and I look for the trend to continue.Prospects with Texas A&M offersQB Kavian Bryant, Palestine (TX) Westwood (2027) QB Peyton Houston, Shreveport (LA) Evangel Christian (2027)RB KJ Edwards, Carthage (TX)RB Izayah Lee, Lancaster (TX)RB Victor Scott, Lancaster (TX) (2027)RB Lathan Whisenton, Waco (TX) Midway (2027)RB Myson Johnson-Cook, DeSoto (TX) (2027)WR Kenny Darby, Bossier City (LA) Airline - LSU commitWR Boobie Feaster, DeSoto (TX)WR Kaydon Finley, Aledo (TX)WR Mason James, Norman (OK) NorthWR Dequane Prevo, Texarkana (TX) Liberty-Eylau - Arkansas commitWR Brayden Robinson, Red Oak (TX)WR Zion Robinson, Mansfield (TX)WR London Smith, Waco (TX) University - Baylor commitWR Jeremiah Douglas, Crandall (TX) (2027)WR Trenton Yancey, Duncanville (TX) (2027)WR JD Edwards, Carthage (TX) (2028)WR Damarion Mays, Crowley (TX) North Crowley (2028)TE Zachery Turner, Duncanville (TX)TE Jeramie Cooper, Crowley (TX) North Crowley (2027)OL Noah Best, Midlothian (TX)OL Drew Evers, Flower Mound (TX)OL Evan Goodwin, Little Rock (AR) Pulaski AcademyOL Zaden Krempin, Prosper (TX)OL Felix Ojo, Mansfield (TX) Lake RidgeOL John Turntine, Crowley (TX) North CrowleyOL DeMarrion Johnson, Tyler (TX) Legacy (2027)OL Peyton Miller, Anna (TX) (2027)OL Jasper Ngokwere, Richardson (TX) (2027)OL Brian Swanson, Dallas (TX) South Oak Cliff (2027)DT Anthony Kennedy, Little Rock (AR) Southwest - Missouri commitDT Jaimeon Winfield, Richardson (TX)DT Khyren Haywood, Denton (TX) Guyer (2027)DT JD Jones, Dallas (TX) South Oak Cliff (2027)DT KAdrian Redmond, Corinth (TX) Lake Dallas (2027)DE KJ Ford, Duncanville (TX)DE Dawayne Jones, Tulsa (OK) Booker T Washington (2027)DE Zane Rowe, Denton (TX) Guyer (2027)LB Jakore Smith, Little Rock (AR) ParkviewLB Braylon Williams, Arlington (TX) Lamar (2027)CB Ryan Gilbert, Forney (TX) North ForneyCB Bryson Brown, Owasso (OK)CB Taelyn Mayo, Lewisville (TX) (2027)CB John Meredith, Euless (TX) Trinity (2027)S Jordan Deck, Frisco (TX) Lone StarS Donovan Webb, Frisco (TX) Panther Creek S Davontrae Kirkland, Waco (TX) University (2027)S Cooper Witten, Argyle (TX) Liberty Christian (2027)S James Foster, Lancaster (TX) (2028)

Highlights: Coppell pulls away from Lake Highlands in area round
Lake Highlands struck first, but Edward Griffin and the potent Coppell offense proved too much on the night as they pulled away for a 38-10 win. The Cowboys defense also stepped up with several big plays on the night and now they eye round three of the 6A Division I Playoffs.
