TexAgs' TXHSFB Recap: Reviewing our coverage from Week 7
Seven weeks are in the books for Friday Night Lights, as the 2024 Texas high school football season continues on. It's time to look back at the TXHSFB highlights that Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and Cade Draughon saw during Week 7 around the Lone Star State.
A few Saturday recruiting notes
I had the opportunity to see new Texas A&M commit Nelson McGuire last night and it was pretty clear just how amped up he is to be an Aggie. He had the gloves on and a 12th Man towel tucked in his waist. He then went to work as coach Cushing looked on in the second half. His pass pro was impressive which I already knew after camp season, but his physicality is also quick to standout. The Aggies have also offered Midlothian 2026 OL Noah Best. He lined up at right tackle throughout the night and is regarded among the best in Texas. He received his Texas A&M offer following a strong summer camp performance and he told me he hopes to visit Aggieland soon with McGuire. He does not have a date or anything set for his visit, but McGuire plans to get to every home game so be on the lookout. He is in the early process of getting to know the Texas A&M staff but he likes how coach Cushing cares for his players and he is excited to get a closer look at the program. If you want a new prospect to keep watch, Midlothian 2028 ATH Brendyn Jackson caught my attention. At 6-foot, 165 pounds he the big TD catch and run to start the 4th quarter, the game winning TD reception, and he spent some quality time on defense. It's not hard to see they think highly of him around Midlothian.Coach Cushing was at the Midlothian/Burleson Centennial game, but I hear the Aggies made their presence felt across the DFW metroplex. -coach Trooper Taylor was spotted at Mesquite Horn/Waxahachie (2026 S Markel Ford, 2025 OL Lamont Rogers, 2027 S JayQuan Snell)-coach Tony Jerod-Eddie was seen at DeSoto/Duncanville (2025 RB Deondrae Riden, 2027 WR Ethan Feaster, 2027 RB Myson Johnson-Cook, 2026 DE KJ Ford, 2027 WR Trenton Yancey)-coach Cushing also took in North Crowley/Mansfield Lake Ridge (2026 OL John Turntine, 2027 TE Jeramie Cooper, 2026 OL Felix Ojo).
