5-star recruiting intel
Here's the latest I've been able to gather from the phones on Texas A&M's pursuit of a handful of 5-star prospects and one more top target. OL Mark Matthews - Ft Lauderdale (FL) St Thomas Aquinas- If you listened to our interviews over last weekend with commits Kaeden Scott and Kaden McCarty, you'll know that Matthews got a huge nudge from the current members of the commit class to join the group. I also said a Florida source told me that the Aggies have been steadily "chipping away" at this one for a while. Well, the phone call I got last night moved A&M from the periphery to the focal point. In no uncertain terms, I was told Mike Elko and company are in an extremely advantageous position after that extended stay in College Station for the spring game. For now, everybody else (including Miami and Mario Cristobal) are playing catch up. I believe that should he make an imminent announcement, it'd be in favor of the Aggies.OL Kennedy Brown - Kingwood- Staying along the offensive front, I remain bullish on A&M's chances with the bulldozing Brown who continues to draw rave reviews from those around Houston even after missing a significant stretch of games as a junior. Adam Cushing has always had him pegged near the top of his wishlist as Brown's talent level is matched by his versatility. The upside at guard is almost as intriguing as his future at tackle. A lot of folks across the recruiting landscape have logged A&M predictions here, but I don't think we'll see the recruitment conclude until later this summer. Thus, the Aggies will have to weather some visits. RB Landen Williams-Callis - Richmond Randle- The state's most productive ball carrier has been on the recruiting radar for nearly two full years now. As we've stated, LW-C is a quieter, humble kid so there's still a bit of mystery surrounding his heading. I feel comfortable putting Texas A&M amongst the top group due largely to the efforts of Trooper Taylor. A South Houston source told me last night that Taylor is, without a doubt, the key cog for the Aggies. He's fighting the depth chart though. The Aggies will have 4 underclassmen toting the rock this fall, and rival programs will make sure that's part of their plan to quell any Maroon momentum. From what I hear, LSU has surged after his visit to Baton Rouge last week. I would also keep Texas and Oregon in the discussion. If I had to say today, I'd give the edge to the field…but just slightly. Count out Trooper Taylor at your own peril. RB SaRod Baker - DeSoto- I don't have as much detail here, but it sounds to me like Texas Tech has at least one hand on the wheel. The Red Raiders have put Baker in their crosshairs and appear willing to set the pace for any and all other suitors.CB John Meredith III - North Crowley- My read here after information I got last night is that this is much more wide open than it was back in January when it seemed like everyone had conceded him to the Aggies. Now, A&M has 4 defensive backs committed, and in today's age of recruiting, you have to look at who's got what allocated where. Can Texas A&M still win out? Of course they can. Meredith has been to College Station a bunch, has a strong foundation built with the staff and commits, and remains one of the final few defensive puzzle pieces in this class. However, I'm inclined to lean toward the field as things stand today. At the very least, it's a much tougher task than it was a few months ago. It feels like there's a lot more backing and forthing upcoming. CB Joshua Dobson - Cornelius (NC) Hough- Conversely, I'm a lot higher on the Aggies' chances here than I would have been in February. Dobson released a Top 5 of Texas A&M, Michigan, Auburn, LSU, and South Carolina. While the Gamecocks will almost certainly do what they can to not let him leave the area, a source last night thought the Aggies were sitting pretty if the kid decides to venture away from the region. Dobson has been very open about his affinity for A&M, Elko, and College Station, but I wouldn't have ever thought I'd be leaning more towards his entrance into the commit class than Meredith…and yet, here we are

Elko & Co. carry recruiting momentum into spring contact period
It was a productive spring for Texas A&M, both on the field and on the recruiting trails, as Mike Elko & Co. have plenty of momentum on their side. With 12 commitments in the class of 2027 already, the inroads made during this spring should help the Ags in their quest toward the nation's top spot.

All-American cornerback and Texas A&M commit Raylaun Henry returned to Aggieland for the first time since shutting down his recruiting. It was an opportunity to lock in and check out practice. As he made his way back to the Northeast, Henry is excited to get back to College Station in June.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Considered one of the top 250 prospects in the state. Has the physical skills to be a potential contributor at a D-1 program over the course of his collegiate career with significant development. Professional potential is low.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
