Three Things: Recruiting momentum to be seized, NSD approaching

A few DFW Recruiting Notes
First off, the reactions and returns from this weekend are overwhelmingly positive. If you haven't checked out the reaction thread or any of the many interviews, I'd suggest you do it. There's a lot of great stuff there especially with the underclassmen. Before the visit weekend I stopped through and saw DeSoto go to work on Friday and I have to say the Eagles were impressive. Boobie Feaster had the best showing I've seen in person. He made big catch after big catch and he even flipped over to defense and had some big hits. As far as his commitment to USC, I'm told he is really locked in and he is saying all the right things. However, the lines of communication remain open between him and the Aggies and there are a lot of very positive relationships there. Between the coaches, the DeSoto-Texas A&M connection, and a close friendship with Tiger Riden there are a lot of reasons to keep a watchful eye on this one. One of the big negatives when he was making his decision this summer was a lack of evidence the Aggies could produce an explosive passing game, and this season that has not been a problem. Is it too little too late? We'll see, but I still really like the odds we see Feaster find his way back to College Station before the end of the season especially if the offense continues as it has and the wins continue to mount. As of this weekend though there were no visit plans for Texas A&M. Staying in DeSoto, 2027 defensive tackle and recent Texas Tech commit K'Adrian Redmond made his way back to town. There was some thought he would only attend the Tom Lemming photo shoot, but he decided to attend the game as well. Following the trip Redmond said "It was amazing. I love being back at Texas A&M." When he committed to Tech I felt he could eventually swing back towards the Aggies, and getting him back on campus was a step in the right direction. I don't get the sense he is planning to flip or anything anytime soon, but he enjoyed his time, he has an interest in the program, and the lines of communication are there. Another top DFW defensive lineman is also gearing up for a decision. Cedar Hill (TX) defensive lineman Jalen Brewster and will announce his college choice October 4, and when his decision was announced predictions quickly went in for Texas Tech. After his weekend visit to Texas A&M, I still hear the Red Raiders have a ton of momentum there, and they remain my prediction. I also don't think this decision will be the end of the story with him. I'm not saying he will definitely decommit or he doesn't mean his decision, but the pursuit will not stop and in the ever changing world of college football there is a lot of time between now and when he enrolls in college. Staying in the DFW, I posted this early yesterday in the Visitor List & Recruit Reaction Thread about Cooper Witten and I wanted to post it again. I have mentioned before how I like the way the Aggies are trending with Witten, most recently in My Three Things. After checking in with a few sources following his visit this weekend, I continue to hear the Aggies are positioning themselves well. Right now I'd say the Aggies are in his top very few, whatever that is, and this weekend only helped push the needle in a positive direction. Him and his family took in the action and I have heard a few recruits and coaches were able to spend some quality time around them. The other schools I'm hearing the most about in terms of top competition are Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Ohio State, with Clemson and Notre Dame also in there, and right now I would have the Aggies are towards the higher end of the discussion. There's a long way to go before I see this one being done, but It sounds like good, positive movement.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
