Monday Recruiting Notes
So how did the visit go with Colin Simmons? Well, judging by some of the early returns on social media it sounds like it went really well. I spoke to a few different sources, things are pretty tight lipped, however, I do get the feeling it was a positive experience for all. They were able to spend time with the coaches and staff and get a feel for College Station. They watched practice and went to meetings and took in some sights around campus and town. So how good was it? I am not going to sit here and call the Aggies a leader or anything, but I do get the feeling it was a step in the right direction. I also have a feeling there is a long way to go and plenty of work still to be done in his recruitment. The good news is now I think the Aggies could become a real player. Speaking of real player, I spoke to Bryant (AR) 2024 DL TJ Lindsey and he could return to College Station as early as April 15 for the spring game and is planning to take an OV in June. Coach Terry Price and Elijah Robinson have done a great job establishing that relationship and if you want to hear him say they're two of the best d-line coaches in the country, just click this link. Staying on the d-line the Aggies also hosted Nigel Smith II this weekend. He arrived in town late Friday with his family and I continue to hear the Aggies are very much in the running for an official visit. Right now if I had to make a prediction on that, I'd say they get an OV. Again Terry Price has done some real work there. Now for some Xavier Atkins talk, the linebacker came in for I believe his second visit now, and I do hear the Aggies continue to open his eyes. Commitment talk may be a little premature, but the Aggies are doing something right and it sounds like the interest is mutual and continues to build. And onto a couple of big underclassmen. Top 2025 DLs Xavier Ukponu of Denton Guyer and Dilan Battle of Mansfield Timberview were both in town this weekend. It was Ukponu's first time back since receiving his offer and it was Battle's first trip ever. Both spent time around the coaches and watched practice and while it is early the Aggies are laying some really good ground work. The two also discussed the trip before hand. They train together in DFW and Battle decided to solidify his visit when they started to discuss the weekend. He was also looking at Miami. We'll have more on both of these guys soon. I mentioned in the other thread that Myles Davis didn't make it in over the weekend due to Texas Relays, but he is planning to make to College Station this spring. In fact, he could be in town as early as this week. At wide receiver Palmetto (FL) standout Zy'Marion Lang took his first trip to College Station over the weekend and he is making plans to get back to campus. He talked about taking his OV in the fall, but it would not surprise me to see him return to campus before the fall. Another couple out of state WRs I'm hearing some nice A&M buzz with are Phenix City (AL) Central's Cameron Coleman and Tampa (FL) Catholic's Terrance Moore Jr.. The Aggies were the first to offer Coleman and he camped at A&M last summer and he has seen his stock soar over the last few months. Moore visited on that big early March weekend and continues to keep in close contact. He plans to release his top schools later today.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Considered one of the top 250 prospects in the state. Has the physical skills to be a potential contributor at a D-1 program over the course of his collegiate career with significant development. Professional potential is low.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
