A few Thursday recruiting notes
Hattiesburg (MS) Oak Grove QB and Texas A&M commit AJ Maddox has added offers from Louisville and Mississippi State over the last couple of weeks, and he plans to spend plenty of time in College Station this spring. When he committed to the Aggies he said he planned to visit Texas A&M a few times in March and I'm told the Maddox family plans to return the weekends of March 25, April 1, and April 15. That means AJ will be back in College Station for the Aggies' first Saturday scrimmage and the spring game. Also, yes, the family is coming so that includes younger brother and 2025 DL Andrew Maddox. A prospect I continue to hear the Aggies have some positive momentum with is San Marcos 2024 OT Ory Williams. He visited in January for Jr Day and Jimbo Fisher stopped by San Marcos in January as well. He is also Rueben Owen's counsin so there's some family connection to the Aggies. I don't know if I would call the Aggies the leader, but it sounds like they are well positioned and of high interest. LSU and Georgia are a couple of other schools I'm hearing are squarely in the mix. I also continue to hear the the Aggies are situated well with in-state targets Daniel Cruz, Makai Saina, Nate Kibble, Blake Ivy, and Bennett Warren. If you haven't heard the interview with Saina, here's a link. Look for him to continue to move up in the rankings and also expect him to make it back to Aggieland. Also, while I think the Aggies have some ground to cover with Casey Poe, been hearing some Texas Tech and Alabama talk, I do hear the Aggie momentum is moving in a positive direction since his January visit and the staff dropping by Lindale. I don't think all of those guys end up in College Station but if you can add a few of those guys to commit Ashton Funk for a five-man class I know I would be very high on that class. If you're looking for a potential 2025 5-star, keep an eye on Michael Fasusi. He has now impressed at a couple of camps with his raw potential and length. He has great feet for a big man and he is just scratching the surface as a football player. He has only played the sport for 3 years and on the field he has a natural nastiness. The Aggies offered early and have made a strong impression on him and his family. I look for the Aggies to be a real player over the next few years. The Aggies continue to evaluate the state and last night they sent out a new in-state off to Brownsboro (TX) 2024 WR Gekyle Baker. This is one prospect I had heard was rising up the Aggie board. The 6-2, 170-pound standout has recorded over 1700 yards and 20 TDs over the last two years. He was a regional qualifier in the 200m and high jump as a sophomore and is a member of the basketball team. Brauny and I liked the raw athleticism we saw on tape enough to put him firmly in the TexAgs Top 100 at the last update, and his offer list also includes the likes of Texas, Baylor, Oregon, Oklahoma State, and Houston. Right now I hear the Longhorns have the momentum. They offered in October and he has already visited a couple of times, most recently in January. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/14941957/633b3ac1a6815612ec5d0298Another 2024 to keep an eye on is Prosper OL Ellis Davis. I have mentioned him a few times now, and at 6-7, 260-pounds he has some very intriguing tools at OT. Staying on the OL, 2025 Denton Ryan standout Ty Haywood continues to see his stock rise. At 6-6, 270 pounds has received offers from Texas, TCU, and Oklahoma since a solid showing at the UC Report Power Academy. He definitely looks the part and stood out as one of the youngest guys in the building at Saturday's camp. He also comes highly recommended, Danny Hernandez has worked with quite a few top talents.Zane Rowe is a name the entire country will know. This will be the top TE in the class. Amazing work ethic and ceiling is through the roof! https://t.co/wTSAcXjZU9— Danny Hernandez (@CoachDanny10) February 21, 2023 Thank you @TheUCReport @UANextFootball for inviting me back tomorrow to learn more on my position! @mannyshow84 @DontonioKeshon @coachH2bwill @AlPopsFootball @PrepRedzoneNext @TimBrewster @LetsGo_Bo5 @CoachBoUT pic.twitter.com/vATSRDkXTS— Zane Rowe (@ZaneRowe0) February 18, 2023 940 Elite trailed 24-7 at halftime of the @DRSportz_ #RoadToTheCrown Plano 14u championshipThanks to a strong second half from QB @Tr3Williams on passes to @ZaneRowe0 @Erick_DJ_Reese and others as well as an INT from @Pwill248, @940Elite came back and won 34-24. pic.twitter.com/ht47Bp6pER— THE PLATFORM (@THEPLATFORMDR) February 17, 2023 I know it's incredibly early but if they're looking for another one it's an easy call for me. DeSoto's Ethan Feaster, aka Boobie, already holds offers from SMU, TCU, Texas Tech, Ole Miss, and Louisville to name a few, and he had a standout performance at an A&M high school mini-camp as a seventh grader. He checks in at 6-2, 178 and he can flat play some ball.DeSoto 2027 WR Ethan “Boobie” Feaster@BoobieFeaster23 | @FootballDesoto | @drobalwayzopen pic.twitter.com/J72mukkpfg— Jason Howell (@Jason_Howell) February 20, 2023

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
