A few QB recruiting thoughts
Texas A&M has planned to bring in multiple quarterbacks in the 2024 class, and one of those targets at the top of the board has been Fairburn (GA) Langston Hughes QB Air Noland. On Saturday, he chose Ohio State. The Aggies were a strong contender until he announced his decision, and I expect him to remain a target to watch over the course of the 2024 recruiting cycle. A few thoughts immediately come to mind 1.) It's a really good thing the Aggies already have a commitment from Hattiesburg (MS) Oak Grove standout AJ Maddox. He gives Texas A&M promising prospect in the class with plenty of tools and upside. The Aggies saw what they liked, offered early, and reeled him in. I also like it because what if things had played out differently and Air committed early to Texas A&M instead of Maddox. Then Ohio State swoops in as his dream school, he decommits, and you are probably looking for two QBs. 2.) I really like that the Aggies continued to evaluate QB options in the class and there have been a couple of recent offers. Highland Springs (VA) QB Khristian Martin is the most recently offered 2024 QB. He checks in at 6-4, 215 pounds and helped guide Springers to a 15-0 Class 5 State Champion finish in 2022. He completed over 60-percent of his passes, threw for over 2300 yards 32 TDs and only one INT on the season. He also showed some wheels with over 700 yards rushing yards. The Aggies offered last week, and he will be on campus today. In addition to the Aggies, he also holds offers from the likes of Indiana, Maryland, Virginia, and Virginia Tech. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/15064975/6327bf936e81750a18a96d27 Seattle (WA) Garfield quarterback EJ Caminong was also recently offered. The 6-2, 195-pound signal caller is regarded as the top signal caller in the Pacific Northwest. He has been committed to Washington since committing on his birthday in October, and he also holds offers from Cal, Colorado, and Oregon State. He has some ties to Texas A&M OL Mark Nabou and the Aggies have been more active in the region since Jimbo Fisher's arrival. While he has been a long time commit to Washington, Cal recently offered and he visited Oregon State so he could be open to looking at his options https://www.hudl.com/video/3/14394921/6369632dd45df70cd03f252f I am not saying these are Texas A&M's only two options or even their best options; however, these are two options they recently decided are offer worthy, and if you are taking multiple QBs you need options. I also keep coming back to Little Rock (AR) Christian QB and Auburn commit Walker White. He was offered by Petrino at UNLV and was one of the first QBs offered upon arrival at Texas A&M. There's also the Arkansas connection where Petrino still has plenty of ties. Then there is the state's top rated QB and Florida commit DJ Lagway of Willis. They could both be guys to continue to keep an eye on throughout the cycle. 3.) The signs point to the Aggies bringing in a couple of new QBs in this class and I would not count out the possibility of a young transfer being the second option.

Spring has sprung, and the Maroon & White are really starting to get busy on the recruiting trail. In the first of three In-Home Visits analyzing the Aggies' efforts in the 2024 class, Jason Howell and Ryan Brauninger focused on quarterbacks, running backs, wideouts and tight ends.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
