Recruiting Notes and Thoughts from Dallas Pylon 7on7
I was out at The Pylon 7-on-7 tournament in Dallas yesterday and got to see quite a few top prospects including a few Texas A&M targets. We'll have a few more in depth interviews on some of those guys but here's a few notes and thoughts from yesterdayDurant (OK) 2024 DL Xadavien Sims is someone you don't expect to see at these events but there he was out there running routes at TE for his select squad and catching passes from Prosper Rock Hill 2025 QB Kevin Sperry . Both have A&M offers, have been in recent contact with the Texas A&M staff, and are looking to visit in the spring. Durant (OK) 2024 DL and Texas A&M Xadavien Sims, one of the top DLs in the country, caught passes at TE today@XadavienS | @DurantLionFBall | @C4SportOklahoma #GigEm pic.twitter.com/ykUvwuxE34— Jason Howell (@Jason_Howell) February 5, 2023 Sims received his offer from Texas A&M in early January but he has been on Texas A&M's radar since his freshman year at Denison. Over the years he has taken a few trips to College Station and he has formed a close bond with coach Price. Oklahoma and TCU are going to be very involved but he spoke very highly of Texas A&M and Terry Price and i'll be surprised if he doesn't find his way to College Station for a visit this spring.Sperry is a guy the Aggies offered after a strong June camp last year and he is quickly turning heads at Rock Hill. He has a quick release, throws with touch and velocity, and has the arm to make all the throws. Coach Petrino and him caught up, the two hit it off well, and as you guys saw the Aggies re-affirmed their offer.Prosper Rock Hill 2025 QB Kevin Sperry was re-offered by Texas A&M this week and is enjoying getting to know new OC Bobby Petrino@KevinSperry9 | @RockHillFB1 | @C4SportOklahoma | @TA_Recruiting #GigEm pic.twitter.com/z06GD6EMmD— Jason Howell (@Jason_Howell) February 5, 2023 IMG Academy DB Jordon Johnson-Rubell left the Aggies out of his top 12, but after DB coach TJ Rushing recently stopped by IMG and communication has increased, the Aggies are still in the fight. There is ground to make up, but they Aggies were a favorite of his growing up and he does have a solid relationship with coach Rushing. The Aggies need to continue showing the love and get him back on campus before I'd put them back among his favorites, but progress is being made.IMG Academy 2024 DB Jordon Johnson-Rubell released a top 12 but continues to keep an eye on his options. The lines of communication between him and Texas A&M remain open with TJ Rushing leading the Aggies’ efforts@jjrubell | @IMGAcademy | @TxThreat7v7 #GigEm pic.twitter.com/s5QY9Q98zy— Jason Howell (@Jason_Howell) February 5, 2023 DeSoto 2024 LB Brandon Booker really showed well. He is quick and has some really nice length. He said he's now right around 200 but he has an athletic build and I can see why the Aggies wasted little time offering once they saw him in person and matched it with his jr film. Look for him to make a big rise in our next round of rankings too. DeSoto 2024 LB Brandon Booker received his Texas A&M offer after last weekend’s Junior Day and he is excited to return to Aggieland in the spring @BrandonBooker31 | @FootballDesoto | @TxThreat7v7 #GigEm pic.twitter.com/TZoxjBxquS— Jason Howell (@Jason_Howell) February 5, 2023 Booker was still feeling pretty excited about his A&M offer and the Aggies have made a very strong impression. He is planning to make it back to College Station and it's safe to say the Aggies are extremely high on his list. Keep an eye on Baylor there too. They've been hot on his trail and he has strong relationships there as well.Lewisville 2024 S Jaydan Hardy says he is planning to get back to College Station this spring and he is keeping in close contact with area recruiter Terry Price.Hardy made a name for himself as a freshman playmaker at S, but he is also starting to make noise at WR. He worked at both on Saturday and he is dipping his toe into being recruited as an athlete. Personally I like his instincts and versatility on the back end of the defense.Lewisville 2024 S and Texas A&M Jaydan Hardy has been a varsity standout since his freshman year and continues to turn heads@jaydan_hardy | @LHSFball | @940Elite #GigEm pic.twitter.com/vIjOPskqlx— Jason Howell (@Jason_Howell) February 5, 2023 On the 2025 front the Aggies are not much of a player right now with WR Dakorien Moore. He's focused on track and school right now and has his eyes on a few out of state visits this spring.Meanwhile Dallas South Oak Cliff 2025 LB Kelvion Riggins and DeSoto RB Deondrae Riden have both taken multiple visits to College Station over the last year. They're both feeling the love from Jimbo on down. Riggins showed some nice change of direction working at LB throughout the day for TrueBuzz while Riden changed things up and spent the majority of his time at S during pool play. DeSoto 2025 RB and Texas A&M target Deondrae “Tiger” Riden is established as a top RB and today he also made plays at S. Texas A&M is in hot pursuit and he was recently in College Statio @riden_jr | @FootballDesoto | @grandelite | @TA_Recruiting #GigEm pic.twitter.com/QnSko3a3VI— Jason Howell (@Jason_Howell) February 5, 2023 Dallas South Oak Cliff 2025 LB and Texas A&M target Kelvion Riggins was in College Station last weekend@KelvionR | @SOCGoldenBearFB | @TrueBuzzFB #GigEm pic.twitter.com/KYPCB299MT— Jason Howell (@Jason_Howell) February 5, 2023 Allen 2025 TE Davon Mitchell was also on hand and he was impressive as always. He was in town for Texas A&M's first Jr Day and the Aggies remain hot on his trail.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
