National Signing Day Thoughts, Notes, Storylines
Today is Signing Day. We are not anticipating any new additions to Texas A&M's 2023 recruting class, but there is action to watch across the country.Everyone's favorite sprinter/TE/edge defender Nyckoles Harbor of Washington (DC) Archbishop Carroll. The 6-5, 225-pound 5-star is set to decide between South Carolina, Oregon, Maryland, and Michigan. Oregon is surging off an official visit last weekend but South Carolina has been strong throughout. He will announce his choice at 1 pm ETTE Duce Robinson of Phoenix (AZ) Pinnacle may opt not to sign today. He's deciding between Georgia, Texas, USC, and Oregon and he is also a top baseball prospect. His father, Dominic, played WR at Florida St from 2001-2004.Gardena (CA) Junipero Serra CB Rodrick Pleasant will announce his choice between Oregon, USC, Boston College, UCLA, and Cal. Oregon and USC are currently drawing most of the attention. The saga of Pittsburg (CA) standout QB Jaden Rashada appears to be nearing an end. After a very public split with Florida, TCU and Arizona State, where his father played, have received much of the attention down the back stretch.Oregon seems poised to make some noice, Prime Time and Colorado have shaken things up a bit in Boulder down the stretch, and 2024 standout CB Ellis Robinson IV's commitment are a few more national storylines to follow. Robinson is originally from the northeast and now is at IMG, will announce today with Miami, Georgia, LSU, Alabama, and Colorado rounding out his top 5.In Texas there has been some movement among remaining top 2023s. North Shore CB Jacoby Davis committed to Kansas and S Jayven Anderson recently chose UNT. North Texas recently saw Dallas South Oak Cliff LB Dylan Brown-Turner flip to Florida State, and Ashton Porter is expected to make things official with Oregon. Red Oak S Warren Roberson is set to decide between USC, TCU, and Texas today. He has been a longtime commit to the Horned Frogs but opted not to sign early. Texas is coming in strong and building momentum, while USC has been hanging around.

A handful of recruiting notes - Tuesday lunch
- Jason mentioned it in another thread, but we've been told that Raymond Cottrell has signed Grant & Aid paperwork which is what he was referring to in his tweet. That means his scholarship compensation will begin at the start of the semester when he enrolls, and thus, he won't sign a National Letter of Intent. - The early enrollees will begin their move-in process next Tuesday at 10 am. - We are confident that the staff will be bringing in at least a couple of noteworthy transfers in this weekend. That list is still fluid, but we've heard enough so far early this week to make us believe there's a real push to get some of their top targets to campus for a visit. - There's been some talk about A&M making a move to offer DL Ashton Porter. The CyRanch product is set to announce a commitment at the Under Armour All American game today at 4 pm. I'd expect that to be an Oregon decision, but I believe the Aggies could upset the apple cart there if they move with a late offer. While adding a defensive lineman might not be a huge priority down the stretch, Porter has seen his stock rise with an outstanding senior season. He's also close with David Hicks. If the A&M staff decides they need someone at that spot due to Anthony Lucas' departure, Porter could be that guy. - Speaking of the Under Armour game, you can check out Hicks and Bravion Rogers who will both be on Team Phenom (dark helmets). Hicks is wearing #5 while Rogers will be in #17.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Considered one of the top 250 prospects in the state. Has the physical skills to be a potential contributor at a D-1 program over the course of his collegiate career with significant development. Professional potential is low.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
