With Texas A&M turning the page to a new chapter, Jimbo Fisher leaves the program in a much better position than his predecessor on the recruiting trail. Still room for improvement, Fisher deserves credit for transforming the Aggies into a major attraction for top prospects.

Recruiting news and notes, and a rankings update
The Aggies are gearing up for a big weekend, and I know you guys will be excited to hear 5-star LB and Texas A&M commit Anthony Hill will be back in College Station this weekend. It will be his first trip back to College Station since his official visit in September when the Aggies hosted Miami. The Aggies are also set to host key offensive line target and New Orleans standout Caden Jones. Both confirmed their plans to me this week. The Aggies will also host LB Tausili Akana and DL Johnny Bowens on OVs this weekend In the 2024 class standout Lake Cormorant (MS) DL Kamarion Franklin plans to be in College Station this weekend. It will be a return visit for the nationally recruited defender and the Aggies continue to make themselves a strong contender in his recruitment. Tyler High RB/ATH Derrick McFall also announced his plans to visit College Station this weekend. We are currently working on the visitor list and will have it out later today as usual. It sounds like it is shaping up to be another quality visit weekend in Aggieland. In other news, TCU has been working hard to get Texas A&M CB commit Jayvon Thomas' attention, and there have been talks of a potential visit, possibly even this weekend. This is something to monitor, but those same sources do indicate the Aggies are in a strong position and would likely remain that way even if he does visit TCU for many reasons including being able to stay in Texas and play in the SEC, the Aggie Network, and A&M's smaller town location. Thomas also really enjoyed himself last weekend while in College Station, and he is already in the process of scheduling his Texas A&M OV. He plans to graduate in December. Ryan and I also updated the 2023 and 2024 rankings and added a few names to the 2025 watch list (I know there are numbers but they are listed in alphabetical order. Sorry for any confusion). The Top 5 saw some shake up with Denton Guyer standout Peyton Bowen and Jackson Arnold earning five-star status. Texas A&M commit David Hicks holds onto the top spot with Texas A&M LB commit Anthony Hill at No. 2. Bowen arrives at No. 3, followed by El Campo RB Rueben Owens at No. 4, and Arnold at No. 5. Arlington Martin DB Javien Toviano rounds out the five-star prospects at No. 6. Texas A&M commit and Westlake standout OL TJ Shanahan made his top 10 debut this cycle and is the No. 1 OL in Texas at No. 8, while Westlake DE Colton Vasek also makes his top 10 debut at No. 10. Wide receivers Johntay Cook (No. 7) and Jalen Hale (No. 9) also maintained their top 10 status. Other big movers include WR Jaden Greathouse, CB Micah Bell, LB Braylan Shelby, RB Kedrick Reescano, and WR Kyle Parker. There were also a few new arrivals in the rankings with Red Oak S Warren Roberson, Galena Park North Shore WR David Amador, and Waco Connally ATH Jelani McDonald among those making their arrivals in the rankings. In 2024 we have yet to award any five-stars, but wide receiver Micah Hudson has earned the top spot and is quickly making a case for five-star status. He is a polished route runner and a gamebreaking threat any time he touches the ball. Duncanville LB Colin Simmons arrives at No. 2 and he is right there on Hudson's heels for five-star status. OL Ashton Funk arrives at No. 3, and Silsbee ATH Drelon Miller makes his top 5 debut at No. 4 and Willis QB Derek (DJ) Lagway makes his top 5 debut at No. 5. The Top 10 also saw some new additions. Longview RB Taylor Tatum arrives at No. 9 and is the No. 1 running back in the state, while Timpson do-it-all standout Terry Bussey leaps into the top 10 at No. 10. Allen DE Zina Umeozulu, Lewisville S Jaydan Hardy. and Melissa DE Nigel Smith II form the rest of the top 10 at No.s 6, 7, and 8. Denton Guyer CB Eli Bowen and Duncanville RB Caden Durham earned their fourth stars, and Waco Connally RB Kiefer Sibley, Denton Guyer WR Josiah Martin, Brownsboro WR Gekyle Baker, and Katy Peatow DE Loghan Thomas are among the prospects making their top 100 debut. The 2025 watch list saw has been expanded from 50 to 75 and saw new additions such as Texas A&M offer and Lucas Lovejoy WR Daylan McCutcheon, Port Arthur defenders Michael Riles and Kentrell Roberts, Crosby LB Copelin Windfont, and San Antonio QB Ty Hawkins.

A few notes and stuff from Day 1 of Camp
Alright let's highlight a few of our news, notes, and standouts from today's campNew offerTE Jaden Platt, Haslet Eaton - The 6-5, 225-pound standout earned an offer after a strong camp performance. He stood out from the beginning of drills all the way through to the end, and it was not really a surprise. He has been lighting up camps this spring with an 81-inch wingspan, a 10-4 broad jump, and a 4.8 40 and he has also recently reeled in offers from Iowa State, Texas Tech, and Florida State. He is also pretty new to the position, he moved from QB to WR this fall so he has a lot of upside. The Texas A&M offersDB Bryce Anderson, Beaumont West Brook - Anderson made the trip with several teammates making it his second trip to Aggieland in less than a week. He was able to connect with Bobby Taylor again as well as the coaches. All in all, it looks like the Aggies have some positive momentum going at the moment. DE Ernest Cooper IV, Arlington Martin - He did not camp today but it is notable he was in town to cheer on a few teammates. He will visit Ohio State this weekend and he has plans to take an OV to A&M this summer. CB Laterrance Welch, Lafayette (LA) Acadiana - The LSU commit worked at CB and he is fast and physical. He passes the eyeball test and was in the face of receivers all day long. DB Dalton Brooks, Shiner (2023) - He worked at S during 7-on-7 and worked with the DBs at the camp this afternoon. He showed some nice range across the back end and was able to spend some quality time with and met coach Fisher afterward.DE Jayden Wayne, Tacoma (WA) Lincoln (2023) - talk about turning heads as soon as he walked through the door, that is your guy Wayne. He passes the eye ball test with his size and the athleticism is easy to spot once he goes through drills. He is a different type of prospect and showed very well throughout the day. I would put him as the top performer of the day.DE Dylan Spencer, Houston CE King (2023) - Spencer was the headliner of the DL group this morning. He got the job done in one-on-ones OL Micah Banuelos, Burien (WA) Lincoln Catholic (2023) - An interior prospect he showed quick feet and flexibility and a strong punch to go with it.OL Isendre Ahfua, Seattle (WA) O'Dea (2024) This is another one who just comes right in and commands attention. He goes by the nickname Papa and it is easy to see why he is racking up offers with each and every college visit.Offer Watch There are a few I would guys who showed well today that I could see the Aggies potentially offer down the road, and Houston Thomas and Van Wells, and Micah Bell and Dillon Bell headline that list. Wells is on the short side but he dominated camp like he has all spring long. As an interior/center prospect, he is a high-level prospect. Thomas is a long, lean 6-6, 220 and if the Aggies are going to take a second tight end he made a strong case with his catch radius, body control, and hands all catching the eye. Micah Bell clocked a 4.38 40 and then hit the low 4.4s on his second attempt. Dillon has a stout build and showed a lot of versatility as an offensive playmaker. He was also a standout throughout the day at DT. Washington standout 2023s Jayden Limar and Caleb Presley also caught the eye. Presley is a fluid athlete with good size and showed why several programs have already jumped on board for the CB. Limar showed some real explosion and suddenness while working at RB.If you're looking for a young guy to watch, Melissa 2024 DE Nigel Smith II is your guy. He has the size and the athleticism and already holds offers from LSU, North Texas, UTSA, and Notre Dame. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Considered one of the top 250 prospects in the state. Has the physical skills to be a potential contributor at a D-1 program over the course of his collegiate career with significant development. Professional potential is low.

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
