Expected unofficials and camp names to watch
The final piece to our 5 part June visitor overview takes a look at some of the key names to know that we are expecting to see in College Station throughout the entirety of the month of June as unofficial visitors and/or campers. First off, there are going to be many more names come to campus than we have listed here. There's no way to get a grasp of every single D1 prospect that will be coming to camps. The unofficial visitors are a bit easier to get a hold of, but we'll likely be missing a handful of names, plus or minus. With that said, here's what we've been able to gather so far. It's still a pretty extensive list. If we've got dates of the visits, I'll add those as well. A few Thursday afternoon recruiting notes
- We are doing our due diligence to bring y'all as up to date as we can regarding the final spots in the 2021 class. The fact of the matter is none of the main 4 names we've mentioned - LJ Johnson Jr, Tywone Malone, Brian Thomas, and Jordan Moko - do a ton of media/talking. In fact, I don't believe Johnson or Thomas have spoken to any media in nearly a month. Therefore, everybody is relying on sourcing. With that being said, I've heard the current A&M signees continue to work on LJ. Guys like Tunmise Adeleye, Shadrach Banks, and Bryce Foster have all been in communication with the CyFair RB about keeping that Houston connection alive in College Station. Additionally, I've also heard RB signee Amari Daniels has continued to recruit LJ to Texas A&M. That's a noteworthy and unselfish move by Daniels that speaks to his character and will to win. Daniels and Johnson started their relationship in Aggieland a couple of summers ago at Jimbo's camp. - I'm working on what I can in terms of A&M's pursuit of Ty Malone. One thing I've been told repeatedly with confidence is that it's a two horse race between the Aggies and Ole Miss. If I'm able to get my hands on anything further than that, I'll provide an update. As it stands today, I'm still at a 50/50 coin flip on A&M's chances. - I spoke with Bridgeland QB Conner Weigman for a bit last night after his Zoom with the A&M staff and his parents. The word 'impressive' came up more than once. Conner mentioned the organized and detailed information provided by the staff, and it seems like he has hit it off with the A&M coaches. Aggie baseball coach Rob Childress actually kicked off the meeting, and I was told he did an outstanding job of explaining the baseball angle to Conner.Weigman said he didn't have any other calls set up with other schools this week and mentioned he had been on a Zoom with Lincoln Riley earlier this week where they broke down film. While he has targeted a post spring baseball season decision, there's a part of me that thinks it could actually be a little quicker than that if he and his family feel like they've found the place that checks all their boxes. - Jason's update on Anthony James sounds promising, and the early analysis on that 2023 class looks like it's absolutely loaded on the defensive line, as well. The Aggies have put out a few offers (including Morton Ranch stud David Hicks who I continue to hear holds A&M in high regards), and I suspect more are on the way in the very near future. - Staying in 2023, A&M was the first to offer Spring Dekaney WE Jonah Wilson this week. He's already 6-3, 200 pounds and has fantastic sophomore tape as a down the field, big play threat. He's built like a young Jhamon Ausbon in my opinion. He did grow up an LSU fan, and the Tigers came through with an offer shortly after the Aggies made their move. I'd imagine they'll have the inside track on this recruitment in its early stages.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Considered one of the top 250 prospects in the state. Has the physical skills to be a potential contributor at a D-1 program over the course of his collegiate career with significant development. Professional potential is low.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
