Some Monday night recruiting quick hitters
I spent much of the day on Sunday at the Legends 7 on 7 Showcase in The Woodlands. The tournament was loaded with talented players from across the country. Here are a few quick notes I picked up throughout the day:- I spoke to a pair of Austin area folks who really spoke highly of Texas A&M's chances with Austin Westlake OL TJ Shanahan. As we reported, that Junior Day meeting with Steve Addazio went very well and has folks thinking the Aggies are the team to beat. - Both myself and Jason continue to be bullish on Texas A&M's chances with Denton Ryan LB Anthony Hill. One top prospect I spoke with yesterday who has been in College Station on visits with Anthony said he thought the Aggies were comfortably in the lead. I don't know that I'd call anything comfortable with a player of Anthony's caliber, but there's no doubt he's getting the full court press from both the A&M staff and commits. - El Campo RB Rueben Owens is still pretty wide open, but he did tell me (as we fully expected) that Jimbo Fisher is starting to play more of a role for Texas A&M in his day-to-day recruitment. Jimbo typically picks a few of "his guys" throughout a cycle, and it sounds like Owens will be one of those. - Del Valle WR Braylon James said he'll be making a couple more trips to Aggieland this spring. - Keep an eye on 2025 Katy Jordan WR Andrew Marsh. He put on a show yesterday and checks all the boxes to be a premier talent in his class. His older sister graduated from A&M.- A pair of underclass quarterbacks had a lot of good things to say about A&M. I spoke with both 2024 Willis QB Derek Lagway and 2025 Beaumont Kelly QB Roy Thomas Jenkins at different points yesterday. They both said they'll be back in College Station soon and loved their experiences there so far. Lagway has also been up to 91 on the mound as a sophomore so it'll be interesting to see if baseball plays a role for him down the line. It sounds like the Ags are in an outstanding spot for both signal callers early on, though.- I mentioned West Orange-Stark DB Jamaal Shaw last week as a potential offer. I saw him yesterday, and he said he's expecting to speak with A&M this week. I'd also add La Grange ATH Bravion Rogers to that potential offer list. He told me that the Aggie defensive staff has begun reaching out more in the last few days. - Katy Paetow S CJ Johnson mentioned that he'd been on the phone recently with TJ Rushing. He's an intriguing prospect with a great frame. He's also the younger cousin of LJ Johnson.- Baton Rouge (LA) CB Jordan Matthews didn't hide his affinity for A&M. He told me - just like he told Howell in their last interview - that he's very close with Eli Holstein, and he's got plans to get back to College Station on multiple occasions in the future. Again, I like where the Ags sit in that one heading into the spring. - Lastly, some of my Houston sources believe Ft Bend Marshall DE Zach Chapman is still under heavy offer consideration this spring. He missed all of his junior season with a knee injury, but he looks like a million bucks and is back to being fully fit.

A couple of new 2023 offers and a prospect to watch
Texas A&M extended offers to 2023 OL Jaydon Chatman and 2023 DE Bai Jobe on Friday, and both are familiar with the Aggie program. After a great conversation with Coach Steve Addazio I am blessed to receive an offer from @AggieFootball #GigEm pic.twitter.com/PDiKxShl1g— Jaydon Chatman (@_Fxmousjayyy_) February 18, 2022 Extremely Thankful to receive another SEC Offer From Texas A&M @coach_tprice @mcintosh_mat @@swiltfong247 @brandondrumm247 @seancooper_c4 @josh_scoop pic.twitter.com/brZbLwisfP— Bj (@22_bmj) February 19, 2022 Chatman, of Harker Heights (TX), checks in at 6-4, 285, and earned first-team all-district honors at OT. He projects more as an interior prospect and plays the game with a nasty edge. He is the first new in-state offer by the Aggies since coach Addazio's arrival. He visited Texas A&M when the Aggies hosted Prairie View A&M, and he was joined on the trip by his mom and dad. Kyle Field and the 12th Man made a strong impression. "It was really exciting," Chatman said after the game. "You see all the fans already cheering and the game hasn't even started yet. They were just excited. It was really overwhelming." In addition to Texas A&M, he also holds offers from Alabama, Baylor, Houston, LSU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, TCU, Texas, and Texas Tech. He is currently ranked No. 66 in the TexAgs Texas Top 100. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/13294696/6191e0223df541031c14365f Jobe, of Norman (OK) Community Christian, is a long and lean 6-4, 220-pounds, and an explosive presence on the edge of the defense. He is originally from Senegal, and he did not start playing football until midway through his freshman year. He has wasted no time making his presence felt on the gridiron. He attended camp at Texas A&M this summer where his length and athleticism turned heads. He checked in right around 200, pounds and has since added some nice weight to his frame. At the camp he was able to work hand in hand with coach Terry Price, and the SEC is very attractive to Jobe. The Aggies have another connection. He trains with Sean Cooper and C4 who also trained Ish Harris, and Harris is already hot on Jobe's trail Jobe is regarded as one of the truly elite prospects in Oklahoma, and also holds offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Baylor, Boston College, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa State, Jackson State, Kansas, Kansas State, Marshall, Miami, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, TCU, Tennessee, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, Washington, Washington State, and Wisconsin. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/15314648/61a04553967698093c4c730d Brauny mentioned 2023 DB Jamaal Shaw of West Orange-Stark as an in-state prospect to watch. Another name, which is not completely off the radar, is Colleyville Covenant DE Enow Etta. Etta is a long 6-4, 235-pound and was a violent presence on the edge of Covenant's defense. He visited Texas A&M for the Mississippi State game (TexAgs Interview) and has been in communication with the Texas A&M staff. TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
