Three Things: Defensive backs in 2023, college coaches on the road & more

A few Monday recruiting quick hitters
- It sounds like members of the A&M coaching staff will hit the road this week to begin work on their spring and summer evals. I'm sure we'll see pictures of various coaches scanning the state and country to check in on the Aggies' top targets as well as get updates on kids they've got on their board as they prepare to send out camp invites. - A lot of attention has been on quarterback with the Aggies back on the market. In state, I think the focus remains on A&M's measured pursuit of Dripping Springs signal caller Austin Novosad. A coach I spoke with last night called Austin "the best 2023 in Texas" and thought he was on the verge of making huge jumps in the national rankings. The Aggies remain in-touch but have yet to offer. - Another name at QB to keep an eye on is Jaden Rashada out of Pittsburg (CA). I've been told Darrell Dickey will be out on the West Coast to see him soon, and the kid is looking to leave California to play at the next level. - 2024 Silsbee ATH Drelon Miller was scheduled to be in town last Saturday, but he rescheduled due to Easter. He's a high priority target for the Aggies in that class, and A&M will be down in southeast Texas to see him later this week. I'm told there's no concrete date set up for a return visit, but it will absolutely be made. - 2024 Willis QB Derek Lagway will be getting a visit from Coach Dickey this week, as well. The talented rising junior is coming off an extremely busy run of visits which culminated last weekend in Tuscaloosa. I still like A&M's eventual chances here, but it does seem like the kid is making sure he checks out all of his options. I've heard Florida has been making a big push this spring. - Spoke to a source on Arlington Martin CB Javien Toviano over the weekend. I always defer to Jason on DFW kids, but my source expressed growing confidence in the Aggies. I was told he talked to the A&M staff at length over the weekend. - Lastly, I got another really positive report in terms of which way A&M is trending with 5 star El Campo RB Rueben Owens. Long way to go in this one with lots more recruiting to be done, but there's undoubtedly some Maroon and White momentum heading into the summer.
