Recruiting Country: The latest recruiting news surrounding the Maroon & White
TexAgs Recruiting analyst Ryan Brauninger joined this morning for another edition of Recruiting Country, highlighting the latest news and notes from the recruiting trail as high school football in the state of Texas is officially underway.
Miscellaneous Monday recruiting notes
Just some quick hitters surrounding prospects in 2021, 2022, and 2023. - It should come as no surprise, but based on some intel I received over the weekend, I feel comfortable saying Malick Sylla and Ernest Cooper IV are likely the top two on the A&M big board at defensive end in 2022. Depending on how 2021 shakes out, A&M may cap their 2022 group at just two. I'd also keep an eye on Enai White from Philadelphia (PA). You never count out Elijah Robinson in that region, and you'd increase the Ags' chances if they are able to close out on his teammate, Taleeq Robbins.- Duncanville OL Savion Byrd visited LSU this past weekend along with about a dozen other recruits. From what Jason and I heard, it sounds like the Tigers have taken the lead now on the other side of the visit. However, I was told that Byrd and A&M have not been in as regular communication in recent weeks as they were earlier in the summer. This one is trending to Baton Rouge. - Similarly, I have been told by a couple of sources that the lines of communication had slowed with 2022 PA Memorial CB Jaylon Guilbeau prior to his top schools announcement this week. I continue to hear that a school not on that list of 5 is the leader, but I wouldn't totally count out LSU just yet. - We mentioned in the In-Home Visit that there could be an in-state offensive line name that grabs an A&M offer with some strong senior tape early on this fall. As 5A and 6A schools kick off practice today, here are a few guys I'll be keeping an eye on in terms of interest from Josh Henson and company...2021Erick Cade - Denton Braswell (already offered, could see interest regenerating)Remington Strickland - Ft Bend ChristianCole Carson - Bogota Rivercrest (Arkansas commit) Connor Heffernan - Georgetown (Baylor commit)Jack Tucker - Argyle (Texas Tech commit)Jack Leyrer - Highland ParkCanon Boone - Dickinson (Virgina Tech commit)2022Neto Umeozulu - AllenCory Hendrix - College StationErik Gray - AmarilloJihad Lateef - Lubbock Estacado- Lastly, there's a pair of 2023's in the Bryan-College Station area that are starting to make some noise in terms of being prospects to watch down the road. The first is ATH Bryson Washington from Franklin. He does a little bit of everything for the Lions, but I think he projects at safety early on in his HS career. He's 6-1, 180 already and has received a ton of praise from folks on staff there as well as opposing coaches. I'm thinking I'll get out to see him in person soon. The other name to know has some real strong ties to the A&M program. Caldwell OL/DL Delvin Morris is the younger brother of A&M DB Devin Morris, but the two are not built anything alike. The younger Morris already dwarfs the older one as Delvin stands just under 6-4 and weighs in at 280 pounds. In the little video I've seen, he's pretty mobile for a prospect of his age and his size.
