Spoke with Kojo Antwi
I was on the sideline covering Katy vs CE King yesterday and bumped into Ohio State WR commit Kojo Antwi. As many of you remember, Kojo has siblings in greater Houston and was a kid that A&M pursued very hard before he ultimately chose the Buckeyes.Anyway, he was in town visiting family and wanted to take in a Texas High School Football atmosphere so, through some connections he had at Katy ISD, was able to get sideline access. I had met Kojo last spring when he was in Houston and had a private workout with Conner Weigman. Obviously, his talent stood out in a big way, but I came away more impressed with him as a kid. Very knowledgeable, personable, respectful, and well-spoken. We talked a little bit yesterday about his recruiting process. He said he was "this close" (holding his fingers up) to picking A&M, but he felt like the offense at Ohio State was just a better fit. He spoke extremely highly of the Aggie program and Jimbo Fisher. He also said, "Conner is going to have that thing rolling. No doubt in my mind he can come in there and start early." He was hollering at Malick Sylla after he had a 3rd down tackle and was very impressed by the physical prowess of both teams on the field as well as the scope and grandeur of high school football in Texas. He said he nearly moved to Houston to play in atmospheres like that and that he would have gone to Bridgeland or Katy most likely due to where his siblings live in the area. He seemed very happy and content with his decision to go to Ohio State but thought A&M could finish their recruiting class with a flourish - mentioning guys like Evan Stewart and Harold Perkins by name. Just thought I'd make a note about it. Kojo is a fun kid. I'll be pulling for him in Columbus.

Tuesday recruiting & miscellaneous notes
- Extremely positive reports continue to roll in on A&M's pursuit of Walter Nolen and Anthony Lucas. I've been told both kids spent a considerable amount of time with the current players and even some NFL Aggies while in town. Nolen will trip to Tennessee this weekend where the Vols host Ole Miss. I'd expect Josh Heupel and his staff will do all the can to quell the Maroon & White momentum. As for Lucas, keep an eye on his visit plans. For now, he's scheduled to make a few more trips before coming to a decision, and while I've received no word of him canceling anything yet, I'll be keeping a watchful eye on his plans. TP, Elijah, Elko, and Jimbo (along with the recruiting staff) did an outstanding job on that front last weekend. - As you might expect, commits like Bobby Taylor, Donovan Green, Malick Sylla, and Ish Harris are playing big roles in the experience some of A&M's top targets are having while in town. - Despite the overwhelmingly positive vibes emanating from Kyle Field on Saturday, there were a few names that did not show that we had originally anticipated being in attendance - most notable Kojo Antwi, LeVeon Moss, and Deyon Bouie. Having said that, I don't think there's anything to get worked up over just yet. We had some pretty solid sourcing indicating Kojo was coming up from Houston on Saturday, but he ultimately never made it. A&M is still involved there though. The same can be said for Moss. I know Jason told me this week that a Louisiana source of his told him that the Aggies are still very much in the thick of that race. Smoke is expected be in town for the South Carolina game next week. - I spoke to a trusted source in Missouri City today who said A&M made a huge move for Ft Bend Marshall WR Chris Marshall over the weekend. If you haven't listened to my interview with Chris from Saturday night, it's pretty easy to tell how excited he was and what kind of impression the atmosphere left on him. If you would have asked me 2-3 weeks ago, I probably would have given the edge to USC. I do not believe the Trojans hold that lead any longer. I'm still not expecting a decision any time soon, but I also think Chris could come off his original plan of announcing at the Under Armour game and move his announcement up a little bit. - Ponchatoula (LA) S Jacoby Mathews has a trip planned to Austin this weekend. While that is big news for the Longhorns, both Looch and I continue to hear good things about where A&M currently stands. With turmoil swirling in Baton Rouge, you have to wonder if it's looking more and more like Matthews ends up crossing the Sabine River to play his college ball. - A 2023 name that probably isn't getting enough attention in regards to his priority and where he sits on A&M's board is Marlin LB Derion Gullette. I believe Hop is headed out to see him play this Friday so we'll have a full report later on in the weekend. - Lastly, as of now, my plan is to head to the Berry Center on Friday night to see Bridgeland take on CyPark. I do not believe a decision has been made on Conner Weigman's availability for the contest, but, if he does give it a go, I want to be in the house to see him take on Harold Perkins.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Considered one of the top 250 prospects in the state. Has the physical skills to be a potential contributor at a D-1 program over the course of his collegiate career with significant development. Professional potential is low.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
