Some Sunday recruiting notes
A little more on Duncanville's Omari Abor. I talked to a few sources and it sounds like OU may be sliding back a little, and LSU and Alabama are coming on the strongest right now. In my conversation with him it was pretty clear Alabama made an impression on his visit. We will see where the Aggies fit into the mix after the BBQ weekend, but I did get the sense he was genuinely undecided. A few things he does know is he plans to enroll at his college of choice in January, he plans to announce at the Under Armour game, and he will take an official visit to USC in the fall. Yesterday he did not work out but he definitely passed the eyeball test. I know he talked about coming off an injury and gaining a little weight during his OVs, but he looks like he is a solid 255 and he felt like he was ready for a big season on the field. While Abor is planning to take his time with the decision-making process, Argyle defensive lineman Jadon Scarlett is making plans with Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and Mizzou forming his finalists. Scarlett has not set a date, but he has said a decision is coming soon. The Aggies have had a strong position in this one throughout and barring an upset I think the Aggies are his choice. We'll continue to monitor for a timeline, but coach Price, coach Robinson, and the Texas A&M staff seem to have positioned themselves well in this one. Staying on the defensive line I got to see 2023 D-end commit Anthony James yesterday too. He is moving really well and seems to have a different confidence to him these days. He currently checks in at 6-5, 240 and he has hit the recruiting trail hard. I know he has been in regular communication with key targets Anthony Hill, David Hicks, and Rueben Owens in particular. James is also excited to get back down to Aggieland to re-unite with QB commit Eli Holstein at the BBQ next weekend.Texas A&M commit and 2023 Wylie East standout Anthony James (@AntJamesII) having a little fun in the sand #GigEm pic.twitter.com/jmtfVx4aAt— Jason Howell (@Jason_Howell) July 25, 2021 Here's a few BBQ notes for you guys. It looks like there is going to be a strong contingent of d-linemen. In addition to 2023 commit Anthony James and 2022 standout Omari Abor, 2022 DT Bear Alexander has plans to make his second summer visit to Texas A&M, as do 2023 DL Jordan Renaud and 2024 Caleb Mitchell. A couple of guys not expected to be in town for the BBQ are key 2022 target Ernest Cooper IV and 2023 five-star David Hicks. Do not read too much into their absence. Both have been in communication with the staff, and make no mistake the Aggies remain very much involved and in good standing with both prospects. And last but not least, I was at the Trench Warfare Last Dance camp yesterday and one prospect jumped out to me as a prospect I could eventually see emerging on Texas A&M's radar. Big 6-6.5, 335-pound Frisco Wakeland 2023 Connor Stroh. He was injured last year so he does not have a lot of tape, but he showed well at camp. He brings plenty of size to the table, but he also showed he was light on his feet and has good bend and flexibility and he plays with some nice grit. I want to see how he continues to develop but he has some very real tools. Nice rep here between 2023s Carson Dean (@carsontdean) and Connor Stroh (@stroh_connor) @twftraining @TrustMyEyesO @HebronFootball @WHSFBRecruiting pic.twitter.com/gazDj9RPuE— Jason Howell (@Jason_Howell) July 24, 2021

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
