Recruiting notes - Thursday lunch
- Bainbridge (GA) CB Deyon Bouie popped up on my radar again yesterday. Like I said when I first mentioned his name, A&M still has a long way to go. However, I'm starting to feel like the chances are increasingly likely that the Aggies get him on campus this summer and/or fall. If that happens, there's a path to adding him to this 2022 class. Just something to file away, but it would be a big deal. - Something we've mentioned here and there is the possibility of A&M maybe adding a second tight end to the class. With Baylor Cupp, Blake Smith, and Fernando Garza all coming off of season ending injuries, I think the thought of pairing Donovan Green with another tight end is something to consider. Some names our recruiting team continues to hear pop up are Carrollton Creekview's Sean Sallis, Lucas Lovejoy's Omari Murdock, and Houston Thomas from College Station High. Also, I'll be interested to see if a guy like Baylor commit Cody Mladenka out of The Woodlands College Park shows up to camp in a couple of weeks. - Talked to a pair of Houston area sources yesterday who independently expressed growing or continued confidence with A&M's chances to land The Woodlands LB Martrell Harris and Ft Bend Marshall WR Chris Marshall. Both are scheduled for June official visits which will be huge for A&M to grab a stranglehold on those recruitments. Martrell has Oklahoma and Notre Dame hot after him, and USC has emerged as the main competition for Marshall. - Beaumont West Brook S Bryce Anderson announced a commitment date of July 4th yesterday on his Instagram. Bryce had previously told me that he would make a decision later in the calendar - perhaps during the presentation of his Under Armour All American jersey. The reason for that was because he had scheduled an official visit to Michigan during the season due to his relationship with Maurice Linguist. Now that Mo is gone to Buffalo, I don't believe he'll make that trip. In my view of where things now stand, I think Bryce will take his OV to A&M next month with the Aggies having work to do. I haven't always felt that way, even with much of the media penciling him into the Texas class. However, I do now feel like there are too many little nuanced details indicating the Aggies trail at the moment. Is it an insurmountable lead? Absolutely not. In fact, I can envision a scenario where these June officials leave Bryce with too much to think about or where he wants to see how each program performs this fall and subsequently delays his decision a little more. - Staying at safety, I've got a sneaking suspicion A&M lands one of these highly regarded out of state kids. I don't know which one it'll be, but the way it's unfolding feels awfully similar to a few of Jimbo's previous big out of state wins. For the record, I'm talking about Xavier Nwankpa, Kamari Wilson, and Keon Sabb.
Around Texas: A round-up of recruiting news in the Lone Star State
Around the state of Texas, decisions are being made, visits are being taken, and offers are being extended as recruiting never stops in this great state. It is time to take a look at the latest happenings on the Lone Star state recruiting front.
Unoffered names to keep an eye on
As we get ready to undertake a full slate of Texas HS football this week, I thought it'd be a good refresher to list all the names we are monitoring in terms of A&M involvement as the season unfolds. Now, we are not saying all these kids are in-line for offers. Rather, these are kids that with a few weeks of strong tape could put themselves on the Aggie radar. I'll predominantly take care of the greater Houston area guys and leave Dallas up to Howell. Jason, if I miss anyone, feel free to add them. 2021RBAlton McCaskill - Conroe Oak RidgeOLRemington Strickland - Ft Bend ChristianCole Carson - Bogota Rivercrest (Arkansas)Kamron Scott - Converse Judson (UTSA)Canon Boone - Dickinson (Virginia Tech)Gabe Blair - Denton GuyerEzra Oyetade - Garland Lakeview Centennial (Arizona State)Jack Leyrer - Dallas Highland Park (Stanford)Jack Tucker - Argyle (Texas Tech)Tate Williams - Wall (Baylor)TEMason Tharp - Klein (Texas Tech)WRJohn Paul Richardson - Ft Bend Ridge Point (Oklahoma State)Nehemiah Noel - Galveston BallJerand Bradley - DeSoto (Texas Tech)DTByron Murphy II - DeSoto (Baylor)DEJe'lin Samuels - Pasadena Sam RayburnLandyn Watson - Hutto (TCU)LBKeith Cooper - Dickinson SCaleb Ellis - Frisco Independence (Stanford)2022QBCade Klubnik - Austin WestlakeConner Weigman - BridgelandNick Evers - Flower MoundRBJamarion Miller - Tyler LegacyHymond Drinkard - George RanchDamien Brown - LeonardOLCory Hendrix - College StationJihad Lateef - Lubbock EstacadoEthan Sanders - San Antonio ChristianNeto Umeozulu - AllenSheridan Wilson - ArgyleCaden Kitler - Plano John Paul IIErik Gray - AmarilloTETrent McGaughey - Shadow CreekHouston Thomas - College StationCody Mladenka - The Woodlands College ParkOmari Murdock - AllenWRRandy Masters - Shadow CreekJeremy Patton - TenahaKeith Wheeler II - AtascocitaAnthony Black - CoppellDTTre Emory - Mt PleasantKris Ross - North ShoreDETai Leonard - CyFallsDeMone Green - Houston HeightsCurlee Thomas - Fort Worth Nolan CatholicLBTy Kana - KatyJustin Medlock - ManvelOwen Pewee - CyParkNic Caraway - BryanBralon Jones - SpringJordan Crook - DuncanvilleTrevell Johnson - Arlington MartinTyrell Johnson - Arlington MartinCB Eric Hemphill III - BrenhamChandler Rivers - Beaumont UnitedDorian Friend - SpringJalon Peoples - Cedar HillSJacobe Chester - Ft Bend MarshallJaidan Scott - Shadow CreekDylan Dixson - PearlandSherrod Covil Jr. - North ShoreCollin Wright - ManvelKCarter Brown - Pearland Dawson
