A few Tuesday afternoon notes
Touched base with a few sources As Brauninger mentioned, offensive line coach Josh Henson was out in Houston yesterday checking in on a few 2021s, this weekend it looks like he is headed to East Texas. This should not be a surprise considering two of Texas A&M's top priority OLs are both in East Texas. Sources have told me both Garrett Hayes (Athens) and Ty'Kieast Crawford (Carthage) will see his face.Carthage takes on Pleasant Grove on Friday and I hear Henson plans to stop through to see Crawford face 2021 DLs Landon Jackson and Marcus Burris. Pleasant Grove also has an intriguing new face in DL Torey Phillips, which I've mentioned a few times, and it would not shock me to see him catch attention this weekend. Phillips moved in from Hope (AR), stands in at 6-7, 255, and he holds an offer from Arkansas.Another East Texas talent worth noting is Marshall 2021 ATH Lyrik Rawls. I've heard he is turning heads at plays on both sides of the ball for the Mavericks and he has received offers from Arkansas, Houston, Missouri, SMU, and Texas Tech. As a sophomore at Jefferson last year he was district newcomer of the year.It also looks like Elko is not the only one heading to Missouri this weekend. I heard from a source in Missouri, that defensive backs coach Maurice Linguist is headed to see Kansas City (MO) Raytown CB Dontae Manning. The Aggies have been high on his list for several months now and that was only helped by his official vsit this summer. He continues to state he would like to return to Aggieland this fall to check out a game. Sticking with the DBs it looks like the Aggies will receive a visit from standout Highland JC CB Brian George. I mentioned in an earlier thread that the Aggies continue to build on that relationship and one source indicated a visit to Texas A&M is very likely.
