A few notes from today's RB/LB camp in Dallas
I had another chance to see DeSoto 2023 Jaden Milliner-Jones today and I have no doubt in my mind this guy who will be a national recruit. He already has offers from Illinois State and SMU, and Texas A&M has shown some interest. He worked at LB today and could easily grow into a LB over the next few years. Right now I project him as a S at 5-11, 175. Regardless of where he projects, he is fast, physical, and full of potential. Today he was the best overall performer from either session. He was all over the field and he took on the best of the best. He is a high-major prospect who I believe will have offers from across the country in due time.https://twitter.com/Jason_Howell/status/1277014820752105473?s=20https://twitter.com/Jason_Howell/status/1277010889972088834?s=20The new face that impressed me the most today was Fort Worth South Hills 2021 LB Ca'lub Holloway. I had not seen him in person and he caught my attention from the second he walked into camp. He is a solid 6-1, 215 and he is a twitchy athlete. He is also very aggressive which could be seen as both a plus or a minus. That aggression made him off balance or out of position at times, but it was also nice to see the mentality. Also he had the length and speed to make up for being out of position in most cases today. He is a developmental type guy but this is the type of prospect who is capable of really blowing up. Right now he has offers from Illinois State, New Mexico, and Lamar. https://twitter.com/Jason_Howell/status/1277009852234162178?s=20Arlington Martin 2022 LBs Trevell Johnson and Tyrell Johnson - yes, they are twins - are already on A&M's radar. Travell is a little bigger at 6-foot, 195, and already holds offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Ole Miss, SMU, Boston College, and Buffalo. Tyrell is right around 5-11 and 185. Both have some growing to do and they are known for their ability to find the ball. They both showed some nice lateral quickness and change of direction on the day.https://twitter.com/Jason_Howell/status/1277046190941581313?s=20Another guy already on Texas A&M's radar is Fort Worth Nolan Catholic 2022 LB/Edge Vincent Paige. He is currently a bit of a tweener at 6-2, 220, but he is at his best when he comes screaming off the edge. He has been a standout performer at DE at a few camps, but his size also has colleges wanting to see how he does at ILB. His lateral quickness and change of direction are both things he has been working hard to improve. Today pushed him and I look forward to seeing how he continues to develop. He already holds offers from Baylor, Cincinnati, UConn, and Syracuse. Then there is 2023 Lancaster LB Noah Boulieu. He is already 6-2, 210 and he has the build you look for in a future linebacker. I liked what I saw as far as his lateral movement and he was able to get deep downfield in coverage. It is very early, but this is a guy I could see emerging on A&M's radar at some point down the line. https://twitter.com/Jason_Howell/status/1277014292437614593?s=20On offense, SMU commit and Dallas Kimball RB Brandon Epton continues to be one of my favorites. The guy is versatile, has excellent size, and I think he has high P5 potential. SMU has an absolute steal. Longview 2021 RB and UTSA commit Kaden Meredith is another favorite of mine. He struggled catching the ball with consistency today, but he did have a great deep over the shoulder grab. The Colony 2023 APB Kamden Wesley showed up a little late but he immediately caught my attention. He is not the tallest, but he has a stout build at 5-6, 170 and he is a multi-purpose guy I could even see lining up in the slot. He brings a lot of speed and explosiveness to the table. He was always open and did a great job of adjusting to the ball. I am not ready to say he needs to be on A&M's radar right now but I could see him developing into one over time.https://twitter.com/Jason_Howell/status/1276964666401579011?s=20Allen's duo of 2021 RB Jaylen Jenkins (2022) and Jordan Johnson (2021) were also impressive on the day.A couple of 2024 running backs turned my head today. In the first session It was Keiran Patrick-Daniels out of Fort Worth Brewer. In the second session it was Aledo 2024 Davhon Keys. Both showed quite a bit of promise and already have some size to work with.
