Wednesday Camp Recap and some recruiting notes
Let's start with some Recruiting NotesFirst the bad news, Broken Arrow (OK) 2020 OL Andrew Raym was planning to visit this weekend, but we have learned through a source in Oklahoma that he will no longer make it and it looks like he is focusing elsewhere. Oklahoma has been thought to be the leader there and that would be my prediction at this point.Memphis (TN) OL Chris Morris also originally planned to make it to College Station this weekend, but we are hearing he will now make it in next weekend (the weekend of June 21). It does sound like the Aggies continue to have good momentum there. Now for some good news, Richmond Foster 2021 five-star OL Reuben Fatheree will be in College Station for camp on Friday. The Aggies will also welcome a couple of standout 2021 prospects on Thursday with Fort Bend Ridge Point ATH John Paul Richardson and Fort Bend Willowridge WR Latrell Neville planning to make it to town. New Caney 2021 LB Derrick Harris Jr returned to Aggieland for the second week in a row as did five-star 2020 receiver commit Demond Demas.Camp ReportNew offers:The Aggies extended a couple of new offers today. Both were 2022 QBs and both were to out of state prospects whose father's played college ball. Lafayette (LA) St. Thomas More QB Walker Howard received his fourth offer when the Aggies extended a scholarship. Texas A&M joins Alabama, Mississippi State, and Louisiana-Lafayette. His father Jaimie Howard was a standout QB at LSU, and has had long standing relationships with OC Darrell Dickey and head coach Jimbo Fisher. After receiving his offer Howard said he loved his experience in Aggieland and he was very impressed with the culture and the coaches.https://twitter.com/Jason_Howell/status/1138931996607094785Middletown (DE) QB Braden Davis received his first offer when the Aggies put their offer on the table. He is the son of former Tennessee Volunteer All-American OL and NFL first round draft pick Antone Davis. The younger Davis checks in at 6-4, 195-pounds and he put good velocity on the ball. Duke, Wake Forest, Rutgers, and NC State have all shown interest and he is a prospect to watch down the line.https://twitter.com/Jason_Howell/status/1138923287503876096Standouts:In addition to the two offers the QB position had quite a few impressive prospect. North Texas commitment and Stephenville standout Kade Renfro led the way in the 2020 class. 6-foot-6, 190-pound Lake Travis 2021 standout Nate Yarnell and Austin Westlake 2022 standout Cade Klubnik also turned quite a few heads out there today with their touch and velocity. I also liked what I saw from Duncanville 2023 QB Cedric Harden. Harden will be at camp for three days and already has size, athleticism, and a plus arm.The OL group featured a couple of 2021s to watch. Fort Collins (CO) Fossil Ridge OL Trey Zuhn had what I thought was the strongest performance of the day. Plus he has plenty of room to go grow on his 6-5 frame. He already holds offers from the likes of Colorado, Nebraska, Michigan, and Notre Dame and he showed why with some impressive footwork and technique. Magnolia 2021 OL Matthew Wykoff also caught attention for his frame and athleticism and he handled business on the edge. Salisbury (CT) Salisbury Academy 2020 OL Tobias Braun was one of the more intriguing prospects at the camp. At 6-7, 315-pounds he passes the eyeball test. He is a raw specimen, but he has tools to develop into something special. He played at Bullard (TX) Brookhill Academy last year and he is originally from Germany. He got caught off balance at times and over extended himself, but he has length, he is agile, and he is flexible. The wide receiver group was headline by 2020 Houston St. Pius X and former Boston College commit Seth Jones. Jones has seen his stock rise recently. Today he showed strong hands, speed, and quickness to go with crisp routes. Denton Ryan 2021 ATH Billy Bowman Jr spent the day at WR and he too put on a show with his speed and route running ability. Then there was Baton Rouge (LA) Southern Lab 2021 WR Theodore Knox who took the whole speed and quickness to the next level.https://twitter.com/Jason_Howell/status/1138930577975984130At tight end 2021s Lake McRee and Ben Postma put together strong performances. McRee already holds an offer from the Aggies and he showed why with fluid routes and sure hands. Postma is a big bodied target who also showed he could be a threat in the receiving game. Klein Collins 2021 Colby Powers is also an intriguing prospect at 6-4, 235The linebacker position also had some juice today. Notasulga (AL) Reeltown ATH Eric Shaw showed some really nice athleticism while working at LB for coach Peveto. He was raw, but he has a very nice build and overall athleticism. Huntsville LB 2020 Jordan Brown and Pearland Shadow Creek 2020 Terreance Ellis both stood out during drills and Grand Oaks 2022 Martrell Harris caught plenty of attention with his athleticism and build. At DB, Lancaster 2021 S Princeton Word and Clear Lake 2021 CB Mark Wilson showed well in drills and in one-on-ones.New name:Keep an eye on 2023 DE David Hicks. The 6-1, 200-pound Katy Morton Ranch standout is the son of a coach and he boasts 10-inch hands and a 78-inch wingspan. He also came off with enough speed and quickness that no OL was able to counter. https://twitter.com/Jason_Howell/status/1138937923297062913

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
