Ten Thoughts: New Aggie commitments, out of state recruiting & more
The Aggies made two big recruiting splashes on Sunday after landing commitments from DT Isaiah Raikes and RB Deondre Jackson, and Jimbo Fisher and Company have big plans for rounding out the 2020 class and beyond.

A few Sunday night recruiting notes
- Obviously, A&M landing Isaiah Raikes was a little bit expected today. It was a name y'all had heard a lot over the past couple of months since his visit to Aggieland with Fadil Diggs went so well. However, the pledge of Deondre Jackson came out of nowhere essentially. In fact, we didn't get word things were trending in that direction until mid morning. It's just another example of the way this coaching staff works. You feel like just about anything can happen during these official visit weekends. - A couple of sources I talked to today felt like A&M had done a great job with all three of the corners that came in on the weekend. College of San Mateo (CA) cover man Alton Julien left with an offer. Kansas City (MO) native Dontae Manning left still committed to Oklahoma, but I've heard enough to feel like that one sits more in the middle of the road than anything else right now. Lastly, we received probably the most positive vibe on Fort Washington (MD) standout Joshuah Moten. The Aggies knocked it out of the park, and I'd feel pretty comfortable calling them the clear leader. It certainly feels like that at the mid summer point, the remainder of the cornerback class will be filled in by a combination of those three along with Aldine MacArthur's Josh Eaton. 4 names for 3 spots? A&M only took two corners in last year's class, and what happens if Elijah Blades pulls a Sternberger and is a one-and-done? The Aggies will have to build depth at corner soon, and it'll likely be done in this 2020 class. - Speaking of Eaton, he announced via Twitter that he's got big news tomorrow. That will not be a commitment. He will be a summer time decision though. - Next weekend's visitor list will be dotted with well known names for folks who follow this stuff. Here's who we've heard is coming so far...The Woodlands College Park OL Josh Bankhead Ft Bend Hightower OL Smart Chibuzo Clear Creek OL Chad Lindberg CyRidge DL Vernon Broughton Memphis (TN) OL Chris Morris Watson (LA) DT Jalen Lee Baton Rouge (LA) DT Jaquelin Roy Folsom (CA) RB Daniyel Ngata - Lastly, I believe Bowling Green (KY) S Vito Tisdale will try to reschedule his visit weekend, but I have not heard a new date at this time.

Recruiting notes and quotes - Tuesday morning
- I spoke with 2021 Bellaire Episcopal OL Cullen Montgomery who received an offer from the Aggies over the weekend. The 6-5, 320 pounder holds offers from Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Georgia, Oregon, Tennessee, among many others. Here's what he had to say about the Ags offering..."I was excited about the offer because I feel that Jimbo is a great coach, and I would love to play with Coach Henson.""Coach Fisher was the one that offered me. He said he really liked the way I used my hips, that my punch is nice, and that I have a focus like no other.""Yes, I grew up liking A&M. I just love the game day tradition and the energy around the stadium.""More visits? Not that I know of, but I will probably be checking some schools out soon."- Aldine MacArthur CB Josh Eaton will camp in College Station this week as will 2021 Clear Lake CB Mark Wilson and 2022 Port Arthur Memorial corner Jaylon Guilbeau. Guilbeau has the look of an early offer type of kid. - 2021 A&M Consolidated DE/LB Vince Sheffield is starting to gain some momentum after big performances at SMU and TCU camps last week. He measured in at just over 6 foot and 225 pounds and ran sub 4.7 in his forty. He's played nothing but DE for Consol, but his body type projects as a linebacker. A&M is interested. - Be on the lookout for some high profile visitors heading into town this weekend in the defensive backfield. I know that College of San Mateo (CA) CB Alton Julien is likely, and we are hearing a couple of highly touted out of staters could be making an appearance, as well. We'll stay on top of that and update it when we can.

Interesting names expected to visit this week
I've had two sources tell me today that Manor DL Princely Umanmielen and Bastrop Cedar Creek DL Alfred Collins are both planning to be in College Station this week. Both should probably be considered A&M's top two defensive targets in the state of Texas at this moment. They'll be here on unofficials and will visit with Terry Price, Elijah Robinson, and Mike Elko.I'm also expecting College of San Mateo (CA) CB Alton Julien to make the trek from the west coast this week. Julien is a new name of the Aggie board. Originally from Palo Alto (CA), the 6-3, 180 pounder currently holds offers from Colorado, Boise St, Oregon St, and Fresno St among a few others. Lastly, I'm still holding out a big time national name making it in. At last check, the visit was still unconfirmed but hopeful. We'll provide an update when we can.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Considered one of the top 250 prospects in the state. Has the physical skills to be a potential contributor at a D-1 program over the course of his collegiate career with significant development. Professional potential is low.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
