Aggies add PWO at QB
I mentioned this as a possibility earlier this week, and it happened today. PNG QB Blake Bost is headed to Aggieland to join his brother Austin who is a member of the A&M baseball team.Really like this move by Darrell Dickey and Jimbo Fisher. This was a kid that they loved at camp two summers ago but was a little undersized and lacked some strength. He doesn't any more and embodies everything Jimbo wants in his program.https://twitter.com/blakebost1/status/1346925058149773312?s=21

A few Monday recruiting quick hitters
- As you'd imagine, the Aggies have not cooled on their pursuit of CyFair RB LJ Johnson Jr. I was told today that he's spoken to the A&M staff on more than one occasion since the Orange Bowl win on Saturday night. I also know that guys like Bryce Foster, Tunmise Adeleye, Deuce Harmon, and Eli Stowers have all reached out to him in the last 48 hours or so. - I spent all day Sunday hitting some 7 on 7 tryouts in Houston. I spoke directly with a handful of top prospects in the 2022 and 2023 classes, and there were a lot of people at those tryouts talking about the job Jimbo Fisher has done in College Station and the culture he's implemented. One current college player I spoke with out there told me, "There's a night and day difference between what's going on at A&M and what was going on in Austin."- 2022 Ft Bend Marshall WR Chris Marshall was at the Fast Houston tryout, but he was not participating due to a hamstring issue. I spoke with him for a while though. He's extremely close with Devon Achane and was pumped to see him take home the Orange Bowl MVP trophy. He said Devon called him after the game, but he had already gone to bed. So, Chris called him back the next morning and was able to talk about Devon's performance. My gut says Marshall has really sky rocketed up A&M's big board in terms of priority in this next cycle, and the Aggies will have a great chance to grab him. - Interesting note: Port Arthur Memorial CB Jaylon Guilbeau told me he had just gotten off the phone with A&M CB coach TJ Rushing yesterday when he arrived at the Fast Houston event. It doesn't sound like there's too much to get excited about at the moment, but he has not stopped communicating with Rushing or Jimbo Fisher while being committed to Texas. I suspect he'll give Steve Sarkisian a chance to keep him in the Longhorn's 2022 class. - Another Golden Triangle prospect committed elsewhere is Beaumont West Brook S Bryce Anderson who was spectating at the Texas Stars tryout in The Woodlands yesterday. He is still verbally committed to LSU, but he's talking with Texas A&M an awful lot. He's extremely tight with Ish Aristide and loves what the Aggies are building in terms of their defensive culture. Bryce understands football at a high level and is fond of the safety role in Mike Elko's defense. I still believe Texas A&M will be a major player in this recruitment whether Anderson is publically on or off the market. - I also spoke with elite 2023 RB Rueben Owens who released his top 5 last night and included Texas A&M. Owens isn't in a hurry to make a decision and told me he'd probably wait until around this time next year before committing. From talking to people near him, it sounds like A&M and Oklahoma have stood out earlier on with the Sooners using their typical "all out" approach to see if they could grab an early verbal pledge. Based on my knowledge of the situation, I suspect the Aggies to hang around in this one for more than a little while due to their on field success and their recruiting portfolio. - A few more 2023 names that I really liked that I saw yesterday: Beaumont West Brook WR Javon Sorrell - bouncy athlete with huge raw potentialShadow Creek LB Scott Koumado - highly impressive introduction. Early offer candidateStrake Jesuit QB Bryce Fucik - Great frame, clean motion, high IQManvel CB Corey Swiney Jr - physical, sticky young corner prospect- I continue to hear the Aggies are taking a strong look at 2022 Ft Bend Marshall CB Adari Haulcy. This kid's junior tape is very strong. He only allowed 3 catches all season and managed to pick off 7 passes. - Lastly, I've heard there's some mutual interest with 2021 Port Neches-Groves QB Blake Bost and Texas A&M in joining the Aggies as a preferred walk-on. We'll see what happens as Bost does have some lower level offers, but in terms of adding talent as PWOs, that would be a good one.

TexAgs HS Game Thread
I apologize for posting this so late. Just realized that we didn't have a thread up at halftime of this game I'm at. Anyway, we've got two more days of HS football action so we'll use this thread for updates. Where are y'all at tonight? Ft Bend Marshall leads PNG 14-7 at the break here at Hall Stadium. Buffs have been sloppy, and Indian QB Blake Bost has kept his team close. Ft Bend Marshall WR Chris Marshall looks a bit hobbled, but he does have a 6 yard touchdown catch. He also had an 82 yarder called back. Kid is a big time stud.

Saturday evening recruiting notes
I was able to scrounge around and pick up a few things today. - As many of you know, North Shore QB Dematrius Davis is scheduled to announce a commitment tomorrow morning. Most folks think the likely destination is Auburn, but I wouldn't rule out a UH selection either. Regardless, the influence it would have the A&M class is in regards to Davis' close friend and teammate Shadrach Banks. From what I've been told, the Aggie staff has continued to stay on Shad in terms of communications and continuing to show him how much he's valued at A&M. While my bet would be that Jimbo and company hold on to Banks, it would not surprise me to see him take a trip with Davis in the future. It also wouldn't surprise me to see Davis turn up in College Station again before the cycle is over. - Speaking of quarterbacks, I have heard two more in-state names of interest if A&M decides to take another signal caller in this group. Keep an eye on Highland Park's Brayden Schager and PN-G's Blake Bost. Both of those are kids who have seen massive jumps in terms of mass and body composition over the course of this offseason. Obviously, if the staff does want to take another QB, they'd have an outstanding shot with Bost with his older brother being a member of the Aggie baseball team. He camped in College Station last summer and turned some heads on the coaching staff at 170 pounds. He's now over 200. - A greater Houston offensive lineman that hasn't gotten much attention until recently is Dickinson's Canon Boone. At 6-4, 275 pounds, Boone is an intriguing center type product. Mississippi State recently came in and made an offer. While I don't expect to see any movement in terms of A&M just yet, I'd put his name next to guys like Bogota's Cole Carson, Highland Park's Jack Leyrer, and Ft Bend Christian's Remington Strickland as guys to watch as things begin to unfold down the road. - Got a note passed to me earlier this afternoon that Southaven (MS) WR Isaiah Brevard had a really productive talk with OC Darrell Dickey this week. Nothing earth shattering there, but it's a name we haven't brought up in a while. - Continue to hear good things about A&M's recent progress with Magnolia OL Matthew Wykoff and Canonsburg (PA) S Donovan McMillon. Looch mentioned Donovan during his big snapshot earlier this week as an out-of-state candidate to find his future home in College Station, and that position has only been hammered home further by the kid's virtual visit during the week as well as his recent conversations with Mike Elko and Jimbo Fisher.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
