Friday Camp Recap
StandoutsWithout a doubt Port Arthur Memorial DE Jordon Thomas stood above the rest. He was fast, physical, and he passed the eyeball test with flying colors. The best part is he is still raw, so he has plenty of growth potential. At his size, with his length his speed off the edge was too much for even the best of the best OL (and there were some absolute beasts there today). He takes top honors for me on a big day for the OL/DL. To think what might happen when he develops more counter moves and refines his technique is ridiculous.https://twitter.com/Jason_Howell/status/1139568019317895168Texarkana Texas High 2021 LB Clayton Smith is also way up there after getting a chance to watch him run. He checked in at 6-4, 210 and he can move. He worked with the LBs and the lateral quickness and change of direction were two things I liked a lot when I watched him. He has room to add some good weight and he was a standout throughout drill work. https://twitter.com/Jason_Howell/status/1139562389576269824Bryce Foster was my favorite among the OL. He's a true interior guy who is just built different from most people. He is stout, powerful, and explosive and those hands knock people down even when he is not trying. Reuben Fatheree would be right there as well. He is still very lean, but the frame and his flexibility is top notch. Donovan Jackson is beyond his years when it comes to technique. He is patient and when he strikes it is effective. Hayden Conner also had a strong day and spent much of his time at LT against the best of the best. https://twitter.com/Jason_Howell/status/1139572355666235393Back to the defensive side Longview 2020 DT Sawyer Goram-Welch, Pleasant Grove 2021 DL Marcus Burris, and Wichita Falls Rider DL E'maurion Banks all flashed at times. Goram-Welch spent most of his time at DT, while Burris and Banks both took reps at DE and DT. https://twitter.com/Jason_Howell/status/1139568377561833472The QB position had some spice with Denton Guyer 2021 QB Eli Stowers throwing with plenty of velocity, and Dallas Bishop Dunne 2022 QB Alex Orji drawing plenty of attention with his arm and accuracy. https://twitter.com/Jason_Howell/status/1139563564337958912The LB group was also a strong one. In addition to Clayton, Katy 2022 Ty Kana was strong from sideline-to-sideline and Dallas Bishop Dunne 2022 Jordan Crook is a little undersized but he's as fast as they come.https://twitter.com/R_Brauninger/status/1139566663035215877I did not get to see much of Emeka Megwa working out but he definitely turned everyone's head when he walked through the door. He is more physically developed than most high school seniors. 2022 North Shore DB Denver Harris was also very much a guy who just does not look like a guy coming off his freshman year. https://twitter.com/R_Brauninger/status/1139558921155297280At DB, Dickinson's Donald Warnell was one of the biggest and most explosive guy out there, and Denton Guyer 2021 Deuce Harmon is a fast, physical DB, with a stout build.https://twitter.com/Jason_Howell/status/1139560196257325056I'm sure I'm leaving someone off but these are the guys who jump to mind.Very Intriguing ProspectFrisco Lone Star 2020 standout Toren Pittman checked in at 6-4, 180 and he reminds me a lot of Chattman from a build standpoint. He played OLB for Lone Star last year, but he spent today at S. He is a rangy kid, with a big frame. Offer watchBased off of what I saw I would say Clayton Smith and E'maurion Banks would be at the top of my watch list. If it does not happen today, I won't be surprised to see it happen down the road.https://twitter.com/R_Brauninger/status/1139555057538654214
