A few Polynesian Bowl thoughts
Texas A&M LB commit Harold Perkins and OL signee Mark Nabou started for Team Mauka. I was a bit surprised DT signee Walter Nolen didn't see his first action until the second defensive series, but he recorded a sack on his second play of the game. They mentioned Chris Marshall once but it wasn't him and he wasn't there. It was a guy named Kalama. Here's a few thoughts on what i sawNabou started at RT and logged a lot of minutes. He got the start over 5-star OT Josh Conerly Jr.. i'm not sure i'd read too much into that but it is worth noting. He was pretty strong in pass protection. Moved his feet well and he has some powerful hands. I thought he looked better in pass pro than he did against the run. He wasn't perfect on the day but i only saw him take a tough loss once and the QB was able to get the ball off for a big gain. I thought he handled himself well.Perkins got plenty of time. I didn't see him make a ton of plays but he seemed to be active and make his way around thr play throughout the game. There was a play in the 2nd half where they highlighted him on a tackle but they didn't even show the play so i can't say what happened on the tackle. Nolen came in off the bench and quickly made his presence felt. He got the sack on play 2 and routinely saw double teams when he was in. They clearly had a DL rotation. His power and quickness definitely flashed and he had another big tackle for a short gain in the 2nd half.A few other notesTravis Hunter played both ways and claimed thr Off MVP honors.Maryland LB signee Jaishawn Barham earned Def MVP honors and had a pick 6 and quite a few tackles. He was probably the most impressive player in the game. For the second all-star game DE Dani Dennis-Sutton made QBs very uncomfortable. He was also a standout in the All-American Bowl in San Antonio.Arizona WR signee Tetairoa McMillan had a nice game as well.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
