Sunday recruiting notes
-I'll admit that I haven't been all over the boards in the last 12-18 hours. I was at the Houston Zoo Lights last night and stopped just long enough to do some stuff with the Blades commitment then my phone was blowing up wondering if Braedon Mowry was in Austin as the surprise visitor. Mowry shut that down emphatically. Well, this morning I woke to texts asking if the secret visitor at Texas was DeMarvin Leal. I don't know where that started, but I reached out to DeMarvin, and he told me he's in San Antonio and has been all weekend. He also said he doesn't understand why Texas keeps trying. He's told them no a whole bunch of times.-Potential visitors for today's practice include Demond Demas, Latrell Neville, Braedon Nutter, and Rob Wooten. For those of you that have been crying for the state of Texas to produce a linebacker, Wooten may be your guy in 2020. He's an unknown because he's been playing defensive end at Stafford, but he's 6-3, 215 pounds and possesses some real explosion coming off the ball. I saw him work out yesterday with Rischad Whitfield and was really impressed with his blend of size, strength, and quick twitch qualities. He grew up a Texas fan, and the Longhorns have started expressing interest as has A&M. I've got a feeling he won't be under the radar for too much longer.

A few short Saturday notes
Two more unofficial visitors snuck into College Station today: 2019 Ft Bend Dulles ATH Ainias Smith and 2020 commit Jordan Jefferson.Smith looks like he's still planning on signing in February. It'll be interesting to see where the Ags are at when that time comes.Another HS name popping up at corner is Jay Ward. He's a 6-1, 175 pound defensive back from Moultrie, Georgia and Colquitt County HS. Ward decommitted from Kentucky last month and has since seen his offer list explode - picking up Ohio St and Florida St since he made the step away from the Wildcats. He's on an official visit in Baton Rouge this weekend.Got a report that Carver (AL) LB Ke'shun Brown is loving his visit so far. We'll have more after he leaves town tomorrow, but there may be some momentum building in this one. New name to watch in 2020 is Tomball Memorial OL/DL Braedon Nutter. His junior film is on the defensive front, but a lot of schools (including A&M) have expressed intrigue about him as a guard/center prospect. He's begun drill work to make the transition. I saw him workout today and was super impressed with his feet and explosion. He's got a real shot to be a P5 center. Measures in at 6-4, 290. Our staff has heard positive stuff on the Derick Hunter front today. I'm still calling this one a toss up and giving a slight edge to Florida, but it sounds like the Aggies are giving him a lot to think about. Be tuned on Wednesday for this one.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Considered one of the top 250 prospects in the state. Has the physical skills to be a potential contributor at a D-1 program over the course of his collegiate career with significant development. Professional potential is low.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
