A few recruiting quick hitters - Monday afternoon
Not much going on in terms of breaking news right now, but we are reaching out to kids here and there to keep tabs on the latest where we can. - Both Howell and I have confirmed through sources today that the Madden20 tournament with the recruits was put on pause for the back half of the weekend, but it did resume today. I was told Mike Elko remains unbeaten as he pulled off an upset against Philadelphia (PA) DT Taleeq Robbins. I was also told by an area contact that Magnolia OL Matthew Wykoff now has to face Elko in the Final 4 of one of the brackets. CyFair RB LJ Johnson Jr picked up a victory over new RB coach Tommie Robinson, as well. Like we stated last week, this event has been a huge hit. It sounds like the players, coaches, and even parents are getting a big kick out of it. - Two in state 2022 QB names to continue to keep an eye on outside of Southlake Carroll stud Quinn Ewers are Austin Westlake's Cade Klubnik and Bridgeland's Conner Weigman. Klubnik comes from an Aggie family and has camped at A&M the past two summers. I'd bet he's back to compete again in a few months should everything return to normal by then. He currently holds offers from Auburn, Arkansas, Baylor, Virginia Tech, and a few more. Here's Cade's sophomore tape...http://www.hudl.com/v/2CRMrfWeigman is a dual-sport standout who also has Power 5 ability on the baseball field. His prowess as a QB may be on the cusp of outshining his talents on the diamond, though. His sophomore tape is impressive. He holds a VaTech offer already, as well. Conner's tape from last year is linked below.http://www.hudl.com/video/3/11377860/5dd1eab35b3e660fe40d6f08

New QB name to know
As crazy as it is, recruiting at quarterback is already down to looking at 2022 prospects. With the exception of Dematrius Davis in 2021, the Aggies have their signal callers for the future with commitments from Haynes King in 2020 and Eli Stowers in 2021. In 2022, the Aggies have already offered Southlake Carroll phenom Quinn Ewers, but there's another name emerging in Houston. Bridgeland dual sport standout Conner Weigman has had a really impressive start to his sophomore campaign for the undefeated Bears. So far, Weigman has thrown for nearly 1100 yards and 14 touchdowns. He's also run for another 150. Last week alone, I had two Houston area football coaches tell me this kid will be the best QB prospect in Houston in that class, and that he's already become a problem to defend. The 6-1, 190 pounder is also considered one of the top short stop prospects in the state of Texas in the class of 2022. Hop will be in Cypress this Friday night to check out Weigman and 2021 WR Dylan Goffney who has also been sensational in the first month of the season. Bridgeland is coached by David Raffield who took over the program after a stint at A&M Consolidated. Here are a few clips from Weigman's Hudl:http://www.hudl.com/v/2Br1Fihttp://www.hudl.com/v/2BjUhthttp://www.hudl.com/v/2BfqyL

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
