Saturday News and Notes - Hurst 7v7 SQT
I was out at the Blue Raider 7-on-7 SQT in Hurst this morning and I caught up with a few top talents and saw a couple of A&M commits in action. -Texas A&M was represented by two commits today with both Brock TE Baylor Cupp and Waxahachie S Demani Richardson in action. Both were impressivehttps://twitter.com/Jason_Howell/status/1000394728440041472https://twitter.com/Jason_Howell/status/1000380609947230208I watched about half a game of each. In the first half of Cupp's first game he had the first reception of the game and a couple of TDs. Richardson had the big pass break-up above, and he also had an INT late in the game. -West Mesquite was in action but standout WR Dylan Wright was taking things easy today. He has been cleared but there is no need to rush him back so he is taking his time. When it comes to recruiting they continue to take their time but make no mistake coach Craig made a big impression on him on his most recent visit. He will return to College Station in early June. It also looks like he will take an unofficial visit to Georgia this summer. -Mesquite Poteet 2020 RB Seth McGowan will also visit Texas A&M in early June. He has kept in close contact with defensive backs coach Maurice Linguist who is the area recruiter and originally from Mesquite. Put him on offer watch, he's a stud. -Mesquite Poteet 2021 TE Devon Martin made the biggest highlight play I caught on camera. https://twitter.com/Jason_Howell/status/1000392759772106752Martin entered high school with a basketball offer from Georgetown and a football offer from Kansas. This spring he added Ohio State and Oklahoma to his football offer list and at 6-4, 245 it is easy to see he is a special kind of athlete. He said he has plans to camp at Oklahoma, Texas, and maybe Florida.-Rockwall was there and QB Jacob Clark continues to impress me every time I see him. Minnesota, Cal, and Iowa are three programs to watch right now, and if you ask me, he'd be a steal by one of those programs. Clark connected quite a few times with 2020 WR Jaxon Smith. Smith is another one of my personal favorites. He's a smooth route runner and a clutch performer. He plans to hit the road this summer to Stanford, Nebraska, Vanderbilt, and Colorado. -Before the tournament I had not seen much of the Kaufman Lions but I have to say they have an impressive group of guys. 2019 QB Trey Collier (6-0, 180) reports an offer from Tulsa and he can spin that ball. He is also a multi-sport standout. He is the PG on the basketball team and he clocked a 22.3 FAT 200m. Today, he put the ball in some tight windows and threw with zip and accuracy throughout the day. In addition to Tulsa he is also receiving significant interest from Houston and Baylor. 2019 DE Jalen Fields (6-6, 210) was playing TE today but I was told his more natural position is DE. He is definitely light in the seat, but he has some intriguing tools. I could see him emerging on some FBS college radars this summer as he makes his way to a few camps. 2020 S Charleston Miller (6-2, 175) was another who caught my attention. He was also on the Kaufman track team and ran about a 22.6. He is a big presence on the backend of Kaufman's defense.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
