So, in typical Facebook fashion, there are stories going around that the recently departed Justice Scalia was in Texas with a "secret" hunting group. Or, if you want the Infowars version, he "died during a meeting of an Austrian secret society founded by the Bohemian Grove as a feeder group for the real Illuminati and the resort hosting the society is filled with esoteric artwork."

So I went immediately to the Internet. Hey IOSH! The first rule of a secret society is: Don't put up a web page.

This secret Illuminati group is so brazen that they publish their goals for world conquest, right on the page!

quote:
Deum Diligite Animalia Diligentes Honoring God by Honoring His Creatures

The International Order of St. Hubertus is a worldwide organization of hunters who are also wildlife conservationists and are respectful of traditional hunting ethics and practices. Founded in 1695, the motto of the Order is "Deum Diligite Animalia Diligentes" or "Honoring God by Honoring His Creatures."

Purpose of the Order

  • To promote sportsmanlike conduct in hunting and fishing

  • To foster good fellowship among sportsmen from all over the world

  • To teach and preserve sound traditional hunting and fishing customs

  • To encourage wildlife conservation and to help protect endangered species from extinction

  • To promote the concept of hunting and fishing as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity

  • To endeavor to ensure that the economic benefits derived from sports hunting and fishing support the regions where these activities are carried out

  • To strive to enhance respect for responsible hunters and fishermen

They sound horrible! I say we join with all the Social Justice Warriors and hound them off the face of the earth!

Okay, serious now: Actually, this sounds sort of cool. Never heard of the group before, but it's interesting that a hunting/conservation group has been around for over 420 years.

Is anyone a member, or do you have to be part of the "elite" to join?

A little more, from their history page:
quote:
The Venerable Order of Saint Hubertus was corporate in 1695 by Count Anton von Sporck, gathering the greatest noble hunters of the the 17th Century, particularly in Bohemia, Austria and countries of the Austro Hungarian Empire, ruled by the Habsburgs.

The Order was named after Hubert, the patron saint of hunters and fishermen. St. Hubert is also the Patron of archers, trappers, fur hunters, mathematics, blacksmiths and dog trainers.

In 1938, after Austria was absorbed by the German Reich, Herman Gring demanded membership on the Order and executed the Grand Prior when he was denied. At the end of the World War surviving members of the Order, were authorized by Halvor O. Ekern, chief political advisor of the US Armed Forces in Austria to use their sporting guns to provide winter food to the rural population, avoiding not only famine but helping to save the country from falling behind the Iron Curtain.

The Order was Restituted on May 1st 1950 by Albert Franz Messany at the request of Chancellor Figi of Austria. In order to better reflect its new multi-national character it was redesignated as International Order of St. Hubertus.

Mr. Ekern was one of the first to be invited to be a member of the restituted Order along with Llewellyn E. Thompson, the American Ambassador, General Mark W. Clark, Commanding General of the Allied Forces in Austria, George Wood, British Ambassador Baron Harold Craccia and others.

From their history page:

quote:

1985-Grand Master Weber asked Archduke Andreas Salvatore von Habsburg-Lothringen to act as Protector of the Order.

1991- Grand Master Weber asked Archduke Andreas to take the office of Grand Master. Archduke Andreas did so and His Majesty Juan Carlos, King of Spain, assumed the position of Protector of the Order.

So of the members we know of from their website, we have a Habsburg (who knew any of them were still around), a Supreme Court Justice and the freaking King of Spain.

Something tells me they may not be interested in inducting me into the Order any time soon.

We should start our own hunting club and make it super exclusive.

Must own land and there can't be any high fences or property located within 50 miles of Doss.

I was actually inducted last year during the annual rhino hunt where I bagged mine with my .338 lapua that was given to me by Chris Kyle from 3.7 miles. Full body mount in my trophy hall to come soon.

FaceBoob is only for little girls and nosy old women.

There are no heterosexual males on there unless they are trolling for some side action.

Total waste of time.

this is Scalia's hunting partner when he died.

quote:
Like many such essays, Foster's begins in a jocular vein"You're only as old as your current wife," he writes. But then he goes on to say that while he spent his professional career practicing law, "I've also been pursuing my passionkilling things. I'm sure many of you have become mamby-pamby girly men and think that killing things is oh, so redneck and lower class. Well, you'll be delighted to know that I generally go killing things with Continental royalty and English nobility, and we look down on the rednecks just like you do." (According to the Web site of the Order of St. Hubertus, the current grand master is His Imperial Highness Istvan von Habsburg-Lothringen, the archduke of Austria.)

Foster went on, "I am pleased to report that I've killed lots of elephants, lions, buffalo, leopards, kudu, deer and the last legally shot black rhinoceros, together with more than 150,000 birds of various species. When the last duck comes flying over with a sign around his neck 'I am the last duck,' I will shoot it." Concluding with a political observation, Foster writes, "It also won't surprise you that I still rail against liberals, the academic kleptocracy, Washington bureaucrats and feminazis."
