During the post game interview on SEC Network, Corbin confirmed Kilichowski likely starting tomorrow and Sheffield and Wright will go on normal rest after that.

Are you talking strictly baseball? Because Missouri has played in the SEC Championship for football twice, I wouldn't call that being unkind to Missouri (even it was out of the east).

Yes. The format for the tournament is not the fairest in crowning a champion but does allow bubble teams a chance to make the NCAAs without stressing pitching staffs any more than your typical eight team double elimination tournament.

Edit to expand answer: The selection committee rarely will pick a team that does not make its own conference tournament (I believe it has happened only once). With the SEC, the top eight teams are often securely in the NCAAs. The expansion to twelve teams gives the conference a shot at getting 10+ teams. The format, while not particularly fair, does not overly stress bull pens.

It's designed to give the bubble teams a chance to prove that they are worthy of a NCAA tourney bid, but also set up not to over work the pitching for the teams that are a post season lock.

If the whole tournament was double elimination, it would take several more days to play. There are no pitching staffs that would hold up over that many games.

the move to the SEC has been unkind to the Tigers. Mizzou has yet to make a regional since joining the league. And has only made the postseason once (2012) in the last 7 years. And that was because Mizzou won the Big 12 tournament

I think Jameson is a good coach and would do well at a school with actual baseball resources and fan support. Baylor might have been wise to look at him after they whacked Steve Smith. Maybe Wichita State will give him a chance. Surely they're about to fire their coach, aren't they?

Nebraska is having a decent season, current RPI is 36, finishing the regular season on a 15-4 run after a 5-game losing streak in mid-April. NU played a decent non-conf. schedule as well.

This is a weird place.

You can think that, but there is so much love for the SEC here it is unreal.

Columbia, MO, is a strangely southern feeling town. Now while MIssouri never fully seceded from the Union, there was a tremendous amount of Southern sympathies in the state and contributions to the Confederacy, and that tradition carries down to the modern day. Missouri is a strange confluence of a lot of cultures. Kansas City is decidedly Midwestern. St. Louis is strangely Eastern and pretentious. The southern part of the state is about as rural redneck as any southern state. Northern Missouri feels certainly Midwestern.

That's what they've been TRYING to tell the Big 10 now for decades. The Big 10 only considered it when t.u. and A&M were possibilities.
