I was actually pretty proficient in english comp classes back in school. We'd even have diagramming parties. Not sure if people diagram sentences anymore?

Mcgee resigns from UKMC from his job as Assistant Basketball Coach.

"The university deserves a full time assistant coach and I am not able to provide that to the basketball team while the false allegations against me are being investigated," McGee wrote in a letter to UMKC athletic director Carla Wilson.

Back in the day we'd have " painting parties." We'd load up the ice box with lager. True story we'd end up drinking too much ice cold lager and not much painting done.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. Maybe the "Billy Graham Rule" would've helped the University of Louisville basketball program avoid this mess.

At least that was Texas A&M coach Billy Kennedy's reaction to the scandal, involving allegations a staff member arranged strippers and escorts for Cardinals players and recruits, that has rocked the U of L program in recent weeks. Graham, a famous preacher, resolved never to be alone with a woman that was not his wife leaving doors open or having witnesses present if ever he met with other women.

"We've gotta do that in a different way, you know, in everything we do," Kennedy said Wednesday at the Southeastern Conference's media day, where Louisville's scandal and coach Rick Pitino's level of responsibility were hot topics. "Everything is so scrutinized now that everything you do, you have to watch yourself."
quote:
While the idea of a rogue assistant is often met with skepticism, SEC coaches don't find it far-fetched.

"Programs have gotten so big, and staffs have gotten so big that to say 'I know everything going on in my program' would be a lie," Kennedy said. "I respect Coach Pitino, and I don't believe he knew what was going on. But unfortunately it's our job and we're paid a lot of money to have responsibility of what's going on in those type situations. I would like to think I would have known."

But no matter what precautions a coach takes in vetting staff and evaluating the character of recruits "nothing is a guarantee," Kennedy said, and that can be scary for the men in charge of these programs.

Louisville coach Rick Pitino won't attend ACC media day Wednesday in Charlotte, North Carolina, on the advice of legal counsel, the school announced Friday.

Old news. They'll let this Powell keep changing her story and sink herself. Pitino said last week he wasn't going.

The statement by Pitino and the school about not attending was today, "Friday". Ben Lover must have gotten the information last night at Steak and Shake.

To clarify - I think kids are getting laid on recruiting trips all over the country. Cash payments or favors - call it what you will. It's essentially prostitution.

I also think Petino is an especially bad example. Everyone does it may be true, but that just makes it look worse when you're getting hit for it.

I doubt it's going on all over the country. Maybe a school here, maybe a school there...and they may be in all parts of re country...but are there strippers hanging with recruits everywhere they go? I really, really doubt it.

Keeping things under wraps can be hard, for a number of reasons, and folks in athletic departments know that when it does come unwrapped, things can get bad.

If Rick didn't know about the strippers he certainly should have. Too many occurrences and players involved for him not to have been accountable in some way.

Would you feel the same way if this was Kennedy? What would the athletic department tell you to say?

Personally, I would very skeptical that ANY basketball coach in the country would not have been aware at some level that something like that was going on. Pitino's denials don't pass my own B.S. detector.

Where was the money coming from to pay for these on-campus stripper parties and 'side activities'? Out of their recruiting budget? From a rogue booster who went ahead and funded something which could get Louisville in major trouble without even doing a 'don't worry, you'll have plausible deniability' wink-wink with Pitino to make sure it was okay?

Exactly, basketball coaches are CEOs of tiny companies. How many people are on his staff, maybe 7 or 8? Plausible deniability should never be an excuse with such few individuals. If anything, this should bring into question recruiting practices in general. Pitino has no excuse not to know what is happening during recruiting trips when so few recruits are involved for CBB.

I'm sure there are many more than 7-8 people involved with the Louisville basketball program that Pitino has to deal with regularly.

Anyways, it is quite plausible this is something the underling running this never had any intention of telling Pitino and while I haven't read up on all of this, I'm sure it wasn't happening at the Louisville basketball offices or during dinner with Pitino and momma.

And do you think a recruit is going to be comfortable bringing that up with Pitino?

Head coaches aren't with their staff or recruits 24-7. Stuff can happen.

I think between both Ben and the other side of this, there is a whole hell of a lot of "I don't have a clue but I'm going to say a whole lot anyways."

It's the same script, every time it involves a successful, non-Aggie coach. Folks wanna take them down, or folks eat up everything those programs say.

I can tell you this, these weren't " official recruiting visits." There still is no proof of anything more than a two hundred dollar money order. Could've been for anything.

Powell first said her daughters were under age, now she says they weren't. And now she is blaming them for joining her.

Oh yea nobody saw anything going on in the dorm or money ever exchanging hands.

I'm not a UL fan per say. I'm a hoops fan, and there for I enjoy a power team like UL being good. I've always loved Pitino as a coach. The 2012 title team was a joy to watch as a fan of great defense such as I am. Pitino could with the slight raise of a finger have his team go from zone to man to man and back to zone during a possession.

I also get so tired of the people around here that take joy in witch hunts. mallen sticking his noise into something he has no idea about. mallen this could eaisly happen here. I'm guessing you'd have a different tone. Easy to toss stones at others.

Aggies should be me careful to judge after watching the ESPN Johnny witch hunt. ESPN isn't in the news business, it's in the entertainment headline grabbing business.

Parties with strippers/escorts being held at on-campus dormitory = punishments coming (probably self imposed).

quote:
Five ex-Louisville basketball players and recruits told Outside The Lines of parties at a dorm from 2010-14 that included strippers paid for by the team's graduate assistant coach.

IMO Pitino will still be coaching, but the above is too much smoke out there for Louisville to skate completely free. Particularly not with those activities actually having taken place on-campus.

right, you're not a fan of UL or Pitino. just an impartial observer with the communication skills of an immigrant cab driver who has accused everyone involved in even reporting this to be either on the take or part of a conspiracy to bring down a "good" man.
its one thing to question the motives of a hooker who is writing a book, but you've trashed ANYONE involved.
i found your opinions of how Seth Greenberg and Bob Ley are behind this to be most entertaining.

There is a thread about the Louisville scandal on most basketball message boards everywhere. It is a juicy story involving a big name program and coach. Besides the message boards, there are all the blogs and articles and ESPN talking heads and so forth talking about it.

And let's ignore the ones who said it didn't. ITS OUTSIDE THE LINES ! They are a headline grabbing organization that aims to ruin people.

You got the goods you aren't changing your story and lying. UL is sitting back and allowing Powell to destroy herself. She is sinking fast.

I simply said Greenberg cries anytime he talks about Calipari, so I find it rich he gets up on his pulpit to say Pitino a coach he doesn't like should resign. That's ironic.

And yea, ESPN is a witch hunt machine. Looking at screen shots that contain no talk of money exchanging hands isn't investigative journalism. It's head line grabbing.

they have at least 5 former recruits/ex plaers who admitted to the parties with the strippers/escorts in the dorm, and they have photos (shown in that OTL article) of Powell in the dorm. They also have at least one confirmed wire transfer of $200 from McGee to Powell.

Too much smoke for Louisville to skate free. You'll likely see some punishments. Once they officially complete their current investigation in conjunction with the NCAA. The first fallout has already occurred with McGee having to resign from his job.
