There is no way a major college basketball coach knowingly gives the go on this messed up situation.

I'm wondering what Lyles got from Ohio State, as if this took place they must've givin more. Same with the LSU recruit.

I think this women was in a relationship with McGee. Somehow she turned on him. I'm sure they partied off the clock with recruits. But again there still isn't a cash trail other than 200 buck money order she says came from McGee. This whole thing is a money play by a scam artists.

McGee will come clean, as he is done ever working in college sports.

Rick Pitino took to his blog to address Cardinal fans in light of recent allegations by a self-proclaimed escort. He also talked about his excitement for the upcoming season.
The Louisville Basketball program has been reeling after allegations that paid escorts were provided for players and their guardians during recruitment visits.
The blog was addressed to Louisvilles "Loyal Fans." It reads:
"First, above all, I'm sorry we all have to endure the pain of these allegations. I so appreciate your support and friendships.
I will not resign and let you down. Someday I will walk away in celebration of many memorable years but that time is not now. I do not fight these accusations by others but rather turn the other cheek. Couldn't do it at 33, but at 63 it's the wise thing to do. Let's let the investigators do their job and we will play basketball.
I am really excited with our ball team. Their attitude and willingness to learn is the best I've witnessed as a coach. We have the potential to be a very explosive offensive team. We must defend like past years. That will come when they come together as a unit."

Pumpkinhead, I'm not the one that brought this topic to this forum. I'm passionate about college hoops and get pretty tired of the high and mighty types around here acting as if this program is above ever having wrong doing.

I simply hate witch hunts, and I hate misinformation which is pretty much this entire thread.

I don't buy it because it's easy to explain it, but there aren't many other forums that weren't talking about " cheating " going on in regards to this Aggie hoops recruting uptick. It's best to not speculate or rub our hands in glee as other programs go through issues.

Lousiville lawyers are now suing Powell. I find it laughable how all you think this is an open and shut case.

Lance Armstrong didn't do it. There is no proof.
Roger Clemons didn't do it. There is no proof.

I think it is reasonable to be skeptical about Louisville and Pitino at this point. Fortunately there is an investigation that will either exonerate or implicate them. I don't think its prudent to try to defend them at this point. Nothing good will come from this incident for Louisville.

Nothing good? Lousiville isn't just sitting back and allowing a smear job. That screams volumes into what took place.

Where do you see UofL is suing? I only see that a student is suing. UofL has not announced the end of its investigation in conjunction with NCAA yet. when it does, as Mike said it will probably issue some self imposed punishments.

Read the article that I pasted as well. Appears to be a good chance the lawsuit won't fly at least according to one first amendment attorney interviewed.

That lawsuit is funny considering that university of Louisville employee(s) were involved in the criminal activities alleged to have harmed Louisville's academic reputation. Things are indeed backwards in the state of Kentucky. Louisville is now making the entire state look bad.

And you know employees were involved how? Because some women says so. I'd love to see one scrap of evidence saying money exchanged hands. Words aren't evidence mallen.

That lawsuit is pretty funny. The student is suing Powell (and the book publisher) for doing the criminal activity but then instead of keeping her mouth shut, trying to profit further with a tell-all book. The lawsuit claims that Louisville's reputation has been tarnished now such that its graduating students will have a harder time finding jobs.

It's not a student, it's students.

Only one student is actually named; the lawyer has filed it as a class action claiming he is suing on behalf of other yet unidentified "similarly situated" students. Doesn't mean any other students have actually joined the suit - although I bet some fraternity does as a lark.

The lawsuit is a ridiculous, meritless attention grab.

I agree that there has been something of a rush to judgment by some in this case, in large part because Pitino is a big target and the allegations are so salacious. I still don't think it ends well for Louisville.

Sanctimonious rules that restrict funds going to students while paying coaches millions prove the hypocrisy of the system. The fix isn't more sanctimony.
