Haven't gotten any invites yet to share, either that or I'm not sure where to look. Back in the Gmail beta days, the number of invites were prominently displayed

It's just a different front-end UI for your Gmail. There are some organizational ideas that are similar to Google Now, but it doesn't prevent you from using any other mail app to interact with Gmail if you want. Personally, I like it a lot.

Send an invite to a friend

Once you get Inbox, you'll have invites to send to your friends. Here's how to send an invite:

Open Inbox.
In the bottom right, go to the Create button .(plus sign)
Choose Invite to Inbox .

Maybe I'm not hip enough but what is the point of this? My phone downloads my Gmail just fine. The junk mail filters work pretty good. The only thing my phone doesn't have is push, but fetch works well enough. What I'm I missing here?

Apparently you only get three invites. I sent two to buddies and one to txaggie_2011, so I'm out for now.

I'll check again tomorrow to see if Google added more invites.
