I'm contemplating a job with a large O&G company (like Exxon, Shell, etc) or staying at my current job. Right now the O&G job pays more but what about in 5 years? 20 years?

Probably just stay where I'm at. My company is due for some substantial growth IMO.

The super majors are going to be fine. Chevron is under the most pressure right now due to high capex commitments but those projects are completing over the next two years and will bring additional production.

I'm in Lake Charles (we have Citgo and P66 here) but all the rage is Liquid Natural Gas and Ethanol in this market and neither of them have those units.

SASOL is THE place to be in Lake Charles right now.

My wife and her friend go gamble on the friend's dad's casino free play once or twice a month. He works 21 & 7. Times must be tough. His free play has been cut in half which they do when you quit playing as much.

Yes, this project is very much alive. I work for a PVF supplier on the project right now and I'm currently managing the project from our Houston office. We have supplied 300K+ feet of pipe and tens of thousands of fittings with more on the way between Fluor, Technip, and fabricators worldwide. The Sasol project is my life right now.

That's a good thing. Lots of business in the area as a direct result of that project (camp grounds, a hot dip galv plant, etc).

I heard there was a 108" line going through a 300 yard long cooking tower in the plans. That's a big pipe! (TWSS)

Glad to here the GTL plant is moving forward. I worked on the construction of the Sasol/Chevron GTL plant in Nigeria, although due to bottlenecking the capacity is smaller than the Sasol one in Louisiana and the Sasol/Chevron relationship was strained due to Sasol electing to have their share diluted instead of funding the supplement (and there were issues with the Fischer Tropsch reactors that required a rebuild of the internals).

I haven't seen anything 108" on what we've ordered but one of our fabricator customers is doing a lot of tower work in the 78" range. There are so many companies involved, I'm sure the 108" is out there somewhere. We've been working on the material for the tower since July. I'd like to drive over to LC sometime and look around the site. I've heard it's massive. Like 45 minutes to drive the perimeter massive due to all the traffic.

I know a guy who was making $1500 a day.
I'm shocked it didn't last.

Probably. Like knowing how to operate a DP system. Or maybe how to use positioning equipment/systems.

Can't speak for other parts of the state, but West Richardson, Plano, and Frisco areas are in a bubble (around the various tollways). Prices have skyrocketed with all the companies moving into the area.

State farm built a massive building and then turned around to sell it for a huge profit. 700 SF apartments for $1350 in the suburbs is out of whack with the area.
