So, apparently as last "recipient", it's my job to pick the next sucker....uh honoree. Flatout for having those cool big engine Vipers with the stripes on em:

Funny you say that I'm with my new boss and 24 hours of Lemans bound Viper race car driver Ben Keating in Victoria TX.

Yucc I'm honored and appreciate the thread. I'll hop on tonight at the hotel and fill in the blanks.

You're going to be a tough act to follow

How old were you when you first discovered your passion for vehicles?

My Father was never a car guy and neither was anyone else in the family really, so I would say probably when I turned 16. I remember my Dad allowed me to buy his 92 4 door Chrysler LeBaron K car from him lol. I promptly washed it and pulled it into the garage where I completely ransacked any auto detailing product he had and used it on the car. Years old turtle wax, dried up amor all, you name it, it went on the car. I spent days on it and it looked better than new lol. That's when I knew something was very wrong with me.

Would you ever lower a truck?

Absolutely, if there was some sort of overhanging obstruction and it was absolutely necessary to lower said truck to reach beyond the impasse, I would lower a truck

What's your preferred jam while hoonage ensues?

I was a professional classical musician for years so music is always a tough call for me when hooning. I would say my favorite classical "jams" are John Adams "Short Ride in a Fast Machine" which was inspired by a ride he took in his brother in laws Lamborghini, or Stravinsky's Rite of Spring. On the normal person list I rock Alice in Chains "Rooster", or just about anything from Trent Reznor pretty much on loop.

What's your typical Whataburger order?

Number one with no cheese. My body likes to be fat though so I stay away from fast food as much as possible.

How do you like your steak cooked?

Rare, basically show it to the grill and then put it on my plate.

If you were to build a sleeper with a typical budget, what vehicle would you use and what power plant would you use?

1/4 sleeper would have to still be an LS F Body with a big stall, heads and cam, and spray. Mid 10 second car as long as the rear end holds. Road Race sleeper would have to be a C5 Z06 with big brakes, hoosiers, and a really high end set of coilovers. Roll race sleeper would be a new GTR, I know you said reasonable budget, but damn some of these cats daily drive 1000 hp like it's nothing.

What state would you reside in if you weren't able to live in Texas?

Not dignifying this with a response.

Most f'ed up car/driving story of your life?

Another well known internet "car" guy wrecked his car making a pull against me a few years and ago and I thought he was seriously injured or dead. I looped back around to make sure he was ok. He ended up being fine, but it was a wake up call for me. Haven't really done anything like that since and for as long as I have been into roll racing, and that side of the hobby I feel like I am lucky to still be alive. Always been a track junkie but have become more of one since that accident.

Favorite/least favorite beer?

Not much of a beer guy, would say favorite is just about any Shiner product, and least favorite would be Natty Lite.

Drink of choice?

Crown and Diet Coke, of which I drink way too much of.

Adding: Cigar of choice?

Major Cigar guy. Love just about all of the Major Cuban No.2's. H Upmann, and Monte's are my favorite, with the Partgas P2's and D4 Robusto's after that. I have a 1000 count humidor that my Dad and I share.

What do you want your next vehicle to be?

1998 GTSR Viper, they only made 100 and I really have the itch to try and find one. I saw Bob Lutz's personal GTSR today and it got me pumped about trying to find one again.

How many JCI chili cheese dogs can you eat in one sitting?

1 more than Silvy.

Which car do you want to shove off a cliff?

My old Lotus Esprit

In your opinion, what is the absolute worst modification that can be done to a vehicle?

Big heavy after market wheels. I'm one of the biggest offenders as well. Looks great but just wrecks the performance of even the best cars. If you go aftermarket stick with a proven light weight competition wheel.

3 favorite car related activities?

1. Racing
2. Wrenching
3. Photography

Preferred city for getting crunk?

Houston of course.

Origin of user name?

I started on LS1.com years ago as FishtailinZ, then when Nineball and ProstockJohn and I jumped over to create LS1Tech I switched to AZZKICKER. A few years later I realized this social media stuff was taking off and that being a moderator or a guy that was number one on a fast list was usually a screen name that would be remembered. I changed one last time to FLATOUT but actually went into it like I was creating a long term brand. I have been FLATOUT for years, and I have the 7 digit TX plate FLATOUT. I call sponsors and vendors and they know the screen name, and now I have a great job in the automotive industry that is in direct result of that online following and brand that I had been working on since I was 18 (now 37).

Current hometown?

Montgomery, TX

Original hometown?

Tomball, TX

Occupation?

Viper Exchange Performance Division Manager (viperexchange.com)

Prior occupations: U.S. Navy Band Washington D.C. "The Worlds Finest" from 99-2009 and then Business Development, North America for Smith & Associates in Houston from 2012-2015

FLATOUT, without doubt you're one of the better contributors to this board, glad you did this.

By the way, after reading this I think now the *ultimate* all-time sleeper would be a K-car with a Viper engine; just imagine the power-to-weight ratio of that thing! It would be like one of those early 60s Ford Falcons.

Appreciate that KY AG,

Thank Yucc . As for the K car, when I was in DC there was a mid 10 sec K car that would kick all of our A$$es at Cecil county drag strip lol.

When I was in high school, a friend of mine tried convincing his dad to let him buy a wrecked 90-ish Mustang GT so he could pull the engine and put it in the Reliant K he was currently driving. Needless to say that never happened, but he did add the 5.0 badges to his Reliant, likely the only Reliant K 5.0 in the metroplex at the time.

Gen 3's (2003-2006) are great first Vipers. Very reliable, way more refined when compared to the old ones, and usually priced very reasonable.

I started out with a 2003 vert and really enjoyed it.

Thanks! What's insurance on one of these if you have a good driving record.

Answered my own question. $71/month is what my insurance company quoted me for full coverage.

LOL. I had a friend in high school named Dave. One of the funniest guys I've ever known. I was a car guy from way before I had a license. (In that I subscribed to Hot Rod, Road & Track, Car & Driver and inhaled every word, and could tell you any "cool" car that drove past, year and make/model). I finally got a '72 Firebird and did my own upgrades (intake, headers, carb(s), stereo/amp/speakers, coil springs, tranny shift kit, etc). Dave was exactly the opposite. He couldn't tell you if a carburator belonged under the hood or in the trunk. But he laughed off his lack of knowledge and it was all good. He drove a Pontiac Sunbird he got from his folks. One day I saw him and he came up to me all excited, and said "Hey, I put a turbo on my car!" I was shocked but so pleased that Dave was finally a car guy, too! I said "Show me!" and he took me out to his car. We walked right past the front end and side of the car, and finally got to the rear. There, he proudly pointed to the little chrome stick-on badge that said "TURBO". We both laughed our asses off, 'cause up until we bypassed his engine compartment, he had me hook-line-and-sinker. I bet that badge was on there for weeks before the opportunity to drop the joke on me finally came up.

Good GTKYN, Flatout!

I believe him... I definitely got the impression it was someone trolling silvy rather than a sock. But I still appreciate this post because wow, J.Law is just stunning here, despite acting silly more so than sexy!

I always love these threads. This one was especially great, FLATOUT. Really cool to go from Navy band (did I miss a mention of which instrument?) to all this Viper stuff. And hey, you can soon (if not already?) buy those H. Upmanns legally!

Thanks, I was/am a Concert Saxophone Player. If any of you guys in here were in Texas Highschool Bands, I was All State first chair Alto Saxophone 5A in 1996, went on to lead the Catalyst Saxophone Quartet to three National Titles at U of H from 97-99 before playing professionally from 99-2009. Since leaving the Band in 2009 I moved back home went back to school at TAMU and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Mays in 2012. My last year at A&M I was one of 3 finalist from the Texas A&M University System for the Student Regent Position on the TAMU Board of Regents. I actually interviewed with Rick Perry but ultimately didn't get selected. All of this went down during our move to the SEC, so I was actually in quite a few meetings while the negotiations were going on. It was one of the most surreal times in my life. I would come on Texags and entertain myself with all the wild speculation that was going on.

I was at Gen. Webers house right when Ken Star and Baylor tried to block our move. President Loftin was walking over from his residence and I saw him stop about halfway over and just pause for a minute. He looked tired and worn out. I walked over and spoke to him for a few minutes and reiterated just how proud I felt as an Aggie that we were brave enough to make our own decision about our future and that the behavior of past big 12 partner schools warranted our current actions. I remember him saying something like "Thanks Andy, I needed that". Brilliant man and I learned a lot from him throughout the Student Regent process.

I have to say I have renewed life and joy in TexAgs after finding this place/board. FlatOut you may be my 3rd favorite poster now and that is saying something. Yuccadoo is probably #1.

A lot more entertaining in here than the childishness in the zoo... plus I'm a car nut so that helps. I have a V8 Nissan product with a rear mount turbo (project almost complete, but pictures and details to follow in a couple more weeks).
