I've thought about January muleys every year but by November my hunt time and money budget is torpedoed and I'm behind the work eight ball.

It's a OTC, DIY hunt, and my first "out west". My buddy has been out west for the past several years, but never to the area we're hitting this year. He was successful last year with a 197+" velvet Colorado muley. I'll hopefully be taking advantage of his experience.

Rain and more rain today in Llano co.

No buggy ride in this morning, had to get the new truck dirty.

Back at it in foggy Duval county. Fiance' dropped a nice little ten point for her first deer ever and we saw a big big buck too starting to chase does.

Gotta go to this christmas parade. Afterwards, swing by abother part of town to pick up my bows. Weather permitting, I'll be back in the stand tomorrow.

Got lightninged out this morning

Finally in the bow blind in over a month. Weather is perfect. Only problem. I was in a rush to get out here so no shower. Ok well maybe the scent lock will help.... not really. The wind is totally wrong for this set up. Caught a big 8 on camera last week, but do t have much confidence in my wind. Already had a couple of two year olds wind me walking through. Oh well, I'm here now so I'll give it a try.

On public water. Got a bow with me always see deer and pig. All is fair game.

Back in the stand. Took two week hiatus but have been here every weekend since bow opened. This will be last weekend for me for a while. I'm expecting a new hunting partner in late January. But...he or she probably won't be able to pull a bow back for a while.. Is 4 years old too soon to start raisin' EM right? At any rate. It's been fun. Hope this doesn't mean I have to sit out next few seasons.

Just pulling up to the ranch about to start a fire and drink some whiskey. Will be in the stand all day tomorrow

Fumbling around in the dark attempting to call in some yotes

Up since 2:00am and the alarm goes off in 2.5 hours

Nice morning in DeWitt

Had a young 8 under the feeder and a big old mature buck hanging out in the tree line but wouldn't come out. I looked down to turn the heater off and when I looked back up they were both gone.

Drankin coffee and having some scrambled eggs. Mmmmmm, it's all warm and eggy.

Nothing moving except birds stealing corn.

Calm and peaceful in Kimble County (Erna).

In reply to AgsMnn Very slow indeed, I had a doe and a fawn cruise by after the 2 bucks pulled a houdini act on me.

28 with a light breeze in Tyler County W of Woodville. No movement yet, thought for certain the cold would have them up and about. Must be the bright moon last night.

Still nothing here, thinking about rattling a little to see if that'll draw anything out.
