I had a similar experience. Such a f'd up movie yet so bad ass.

TCTTS: any rumors on David Fincher's next film? And will he ever do a large budget action epic? He could do to a brand what Christopher Nolan did to Batman.
quote:I honestly think this was Flynn's objective in the book and the movie. I love how much she made me not like the ending (weird, I know).
Wife loved it. I liked it. For whatever reason, the ending didn't sit well with me. I don't know. You can feel it when a scene is about to go to credits, and I found myself not wanting it to end there, but for all the wrong reasons. Hard to explain... just didn't like the way it ultimately played out.

quote:I never really noticed that. Fincher hasn't really had any movies which took the box offices by storm..quote:

He doesn't have another film lined up. Instead, he's directing the entire first season of Utopia for HBO next year, and that'll hit sometime in 2016.
He actually developed a big-budget version of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea a few years ago that was all set to go, but the studio backed out at the last minute because of financing. He also flirted with the original Spider-man at one point, along with Episode VII (his first job was with Lucasfilm, and he grew up down the street from George Lucas), but neither of those talks never really went anywhere. 20,000 Leagues is the closest he's ever come to a huge blockbuster, but I feel like we'll get something franchise-worthy from him sooner rather than later. A giant Fincher blockbuster is pretty much my dream project.
quote:1 - I don't think they could tell the difference in ink from (let's just say) 6 months ago versus 3 years ago.
SPOILER
Haven't seen the movie (not sure if I want to since I hated the book ending), but, the biggest head scratcher for me is:
1.) They could have tested the ink in the diary to determine how old it was...would have destroyed the frame-up
2.) When Amy pins the kidnapping on Desi why doesn't nick then point to the woodshed where all of the gadgets were and ask Amy to explain that?
3.) How did nobody in the casino ever come forward about seeing Amy there?
4.) Wouldn't the cops have been suspicious when not a trace of hair, fingerprints, DNA or blood from Desi was in Amy/Nick's house nor in the purse by the river in Hannibal (book only)?
5.) If nick had killed Amy and tried to clean up the blood, why wasn't there any residue noticed in the house, in nick's car, on any of Nick's clothes?
6.) And just to be a nerd...Why didn't they just track his cell phone off of the towers in the local area. That would have given him a perfectly good alibi (same with Desi).

In fact, a man approached her and asked a question.

Ah, that makes sense. Though when did she have the time and privacy to undergo that procedure? (The implantation, that is.)
quote:Really didn't feel that Nick nearly as horrible as her.
SPOILER
In the book, at least, they talk about how many weeks after the return that things happened. They also do a really, really good job showing how/why Nick makes his choice to stay. They also show how Nick has become determined to make her life he'll for as long as he lives.
The more I think about it, the more I understand the ending...I still wish it had ended differently but it makes sense because they are both terrible, terrible people.
