Ever gotten an offer for a new job, put in your two weeks, and then get a counter offer from your current company that you chose to take?

Fair question. But did your new employer fire the guy in your position in preparation for you to come in?

If they did, that's not my problem.

If you are going to make that analogy, at least attempt to make it reasonably accurate. As mhayden posted yesterday
1) you do a job that only a few people in the world are capable of
2) both your current and new company make offers. You accept the new company
3) new company tells the few other candidates that they've made their choice, and those candidates move on to other opportunities
4) after a week, you get sad and decide to go back to the current company (same offer that was made from the beginning)
5) best of all, you don't call or acccept calls from the new company. You just disappear and go play video games with your old coworkers
That's acceptable behavior to you? Especially #5?

the part that everyone is mad about is that he put the mavs in a horrible position by accepting the offer in principle, then changing his mind after they had already moved on from pursuing other free agents.

Its almost surprising this hasn't been a bigger deal before now.
