They were in the final 4 last year.

^^^this.

Until we start winning 9-10 games every year, we can't expect to compete with teams in the SEC let alone with teams in the playoffs.

Either Kds raises his game and our winning percentage, or he's gone.

We had our window and kds shat the bed. lets see what he can do with his second chance. If the window doesn't open back up then he's gone. He has the facilities to attract top talent.

Just reality.
Oklahoma only has 3 players rated 4*, and 2 are already commited to 0u. Texas has 46 players, not including IMG kids etc. I've thought this was over exaggerated. 0u is a perennial power. Their home state only offers a few options so of course they'll thieve.

Yep it was so bad that he had a better record than stoops until last year.

Better record? According to who? Are you adding in his Houston stint? Over the past 4 years at Ou, Stoops is 40-12. Sumlin is 36-16 here in those 4 years. So even before last year, it was 29-10 for Stoops and 28-11 for Sumlin. The biggest difference is the last two years. Stoops has had 7 double digit losses in the last 4 years. Sumlin has had 8, but 7 in the last two years alone. And 8 in our last 28 games. We just simply can't have a third year anything close to the last two and expect him to survive it.

When you take out year 1, which is beginning to look further and further away therefore holding less weight, Sumlin is 25-14 and stoops is 30-9. I realize he did this in the big 12 and we were in the sec, but in reality, our schedule really wasn't that much harder when you look at our piss poor non conference slate. Ou has played Tennessee and Notre Dame in theirs. And please don't turn this into me saying the 2012 season doesn't count. It does, but the further away from it we get, the less it means in the grand scheme of things. We have to duplicate that season soon otherwise all of the momentum is gone from it and it means virtually nothing. One could argue that has already taken place and we have already lost all of the momentum we built up.

Like that poster said, Sumlin needs to start winning now or he's done. He's lost momentum on the field and the recruiting trail. the 2012 season and the 2014 recruiting class seem like forever ago. Now we are recruiting at a 15-20 level and playing at a level outside of the top 25. If that doesn't change in the 2016 season and the 2017 class, there's really no reason to believe he'll get it done here like Stoops has there.

When Stoops had his 8-5 year, he sandwiched it in between two 11-2 years. All people are saying is that Sumlin needs to start winning this year. We have have two straight 8-5 years. We can't have a third in a row and ever expect him to get back on track in terms of recruiting. Our conference is too tough to suffer through 4 straight 8-9 win seasons(if we don't win 10 this year) and expect a coach to recruit at a level required to win it.

To add one more thing to that last post. We're comparing Stoops tail end of his career where he is on the down slope to what SHOULD be Sumlins prime.

There were some years where OU had moved away from recruiting Texas. They still got some great talent from around the country, but they weren't taking the best players in Texas.

In 2014, for example, they got 1 4-star player from Texas.

In 2012, they took 2 4-star players from Texas. One of those was Trevor Knight.

This year, this looks more like how OU recruited in the early- and mid- 2000s when they competed for national titles on the regular.

If they get some kids from California, Florida, etc. like the often do, this could be an incredibly good recruiting class for them.

When t.u. and a&m aren't finishing seasons in the top 25 while OU is finishing in the top 10 they will win over Texas kids over a&m/t.u.

If we have a top 25 finish this season (even if they finish top 10), we'll be back to beating them out.

Stoops also has 9 Big 12 Championships and a National Championship. About the only thing he has in common with Sumlin as far as I can see is that they're both football coaches and like visors.

2012: 11-2 (6-2)
2013: 9-4 (4-4)
2014: 8-5 (3-5)
2015: 8-5 (4-4)

1-7 against Alabama and LSU.

Time to wake up.
