For what it's worth...the Aggie Softball team will be here in Palm Springs the week before!

Just take the whole week off and see both teams, while doing a little sightseeing in SoCal.

Great thread, appreciate you starting it. I'll be coming up from Newport Beach with my boys and FIL. My twin boys are 9 and baseball fanatics and huge Aggie fans. Also happened to be their birthday on the 28th so they are stoked! We'll be catching the Friday and Sat games.

Any way to do a tailgate before the game given it looks like we'll have a good contengent of Ags?

Lol. Welcome to Pepperdine, a DRY campus. Tailgate off campus or be prepared to be escorted off if drinks are involved. Seems like a great idea though. Beach is right there.

i would be up for a pre/post game gathering. I will have my young kids with me, so it would need to be family friendly.

Ha! Yes, thank you Malibu for crossing Baby Blues off. There is no really good Texas BBQ here. Bludsos and Phillips are both "good enough."

Derm, if you're looking to take your pretty lady to a romantic spot you haven't been before, you should check out Inn of the Seventh Ray in Topanga Canyon.

On the far end of Malibu at Point Dume is a little shopping center with a place called Lily's that is known for their breakfast burritos if anyone is up early. If you continue to the point and walk to the cliffs, you may be able to see some marine life swimming around down in the water. (not a walk from Lily's).

Paradise Cove is meh, but it's nice to walk off a meal with your toes in the sand. You have to eat there to avoid outrageous parking fees.

Someone else recommended The Old Place and I was hoping that would stay a secret. It's a random little divey gem in the mountains.

Just booked my flight from Love Field to LAX on Southwest, leaving mid-morning Friday. Got a room at the "Malibu Motel". Should be fun. Can't wait. I am bald and wear maroon

We're heading to LAX Thursday night and staying in the Long Beach area. Golfing there really early on Friday morning then going to the game. We're staying Friday and Saturday night in the Thousand Oaks area. Going to have to miss the Sunday game...gotta get back to Texas that afternoon.

Looking forward to seeing some of you on Friday. Flying in by myself Friday morning, going to the game, staying at the Malibu Motel Friday night. Wife and daughter fly in Saturday morning, then off to visit BIOLA University (she loves her liberal arts) Saturday. Hoping to make the Saturday and Sunday games. Should be a great weekend. Is parking an issue? Is it as simple as paying at a lot near the field?

Plenty of free parking unless it has changed. Seriously guys there are at most a couple a hundred people there. No issues with parking or tickets.

You drive through a security gate and tell them you are there for the baseball game. They will give you a pass you put in your window and you will likely park on the street just above the baseball field, maybe 200 yards from the field. No charge. Your only problem will be walking back to the car. I haven't found a hill at Texas A&M that would register on any scale at Pepperdine!

You can arrive at game time, sun screen/sun glasses in hand and walk up and sit front row. Pepperdine is expecting to be a very good team this year and aside from parents, the game will perhaps be attended most heavily by scouts who largely sit directly behind the plate a few rows back and take up most of that section. It's unwritten protocol fans leave those seats available and sit to the sides their teams are on.

That was what I thought last time. Didn't think I'd have another chance, but here it is. Start today!

We are making a day trip up from Huntington Beach on Saturday. Plan to stop an have an early lunch on the way in and then head to the Stadium. I will watch this thread for any potential gatherings.

Really excited about taking the kids to their first Aggie Baseball game, it is a bit surreal that it will be in Malibu, CA!

Surreal indeed. This will be my son's first A&M game as well. My dad played baseball at A&M, and my son loves all things baseball and all things Aggie. Should be a fun series.

Aside from wanting A&M to make an Omaha appearance, Pepperdine has to be a close second.

When my wife and I moved out to SoCal from Texas about 10 years ago, one of the first people I met at church was Rick Hirtensteiner (now head coach at Pepperdine) and his wife. We became fast friends, and they are just one of the most awesome families I know. I'm really pulling for Rick to do well now as the head man at Pepperdine.

That said, I think A&M will take this series. But, I wouldn't be surprised if Pepperdine takes a game, and they are certainly capable of taking 2. Went to their opener against Oakland last weekend and they hit about 5 home runs in game 3.

I haven't been to an Aggie game since before BBP, so 4 or 5 years. This would have been a wonderful series

Hi third deck. The team is thrilled playing for Hirty. My son says having him as head coach makes a huge difference in moral. He is a good man and his wife is a lovely person as well, speaks well of you to have them as friends.

So far we have had a hard time finding our rhythm in games with changes in the line up, young guys breaking in and four big returning bats not swinging it for results yet. I hope we put it together this weekend and that all the games are competitive. I can say the Pep team is looking forward to the series and the good news is we haven't played anything near our best baseball yet. Ultimately, this Pepperdine team will be very good, I hope it starts this weekend. Sons team vs daughters school.....I will be wearing orange this weekend but it will be only time I am not on the maroon team.

On the plane at SAT...see y'all tomorrow (after an early morning round of golf, of course...)
