When you say "Baptist Church"... that isn't like saying the Catholic Church...

It has been awhile since I've seen their squabbling, but IIRC, many Southern Baptist view Baylor as... well... Baylor.

I'm not sure if Baylor gets funding from the Baptist General Convention of Texas... but they don't get anything from the SBC.

Two main problems.

What derm said above, but also keeping him on scholarship and on the team AFTER BEING INDICTED. That shows extreme negligence by Baylor which will help her win her case.

Instead of suspending his scholarship and keeping him off campus until trial was over, they paid a rapist to go to their school and paid for his diploma. They could have waited until trial was over and re-instated him if he was found not-guilty.

But Briles wanted him on the team so badly that they did not do this.

They key is if the rape victim can be silenced with money. If not, Baylor is in deep trouble IMHO.

Perhaps the best good that can come from it will be that every institution run by anyone with a pulse will bend over backwards to handle these situations better.
