Freakin' NCAA. What's the point of an appeal process if it isn't timely??

Justice delayed is justice denied.

He should go RS at a JUCO so he still has 4 years to play

Wouldn't it be sweet if he ends up (after JUCO) at another Big XII school where he can do some justice on the sorry-ass sips?

Amazing. Charlie Strong and Utex are butthurt, so they're going to try and force a h.s. player to miss out on a 4-yr scholarship and end up in a juco.
Yet the young man is fully academically qualified for numerous out-of-state div-1 programs....IF the dog-in-the-manger tsips would just go ahead and reject his admission application.

There are many old threads about Strong doing what was best for the kids first on here that can be bumped. Threads with sips bragging about him helping talented kids go to the school that would best fit them.

Strong was asked about Lampkin at Big XII Media Days. He said that was Vance Bedfords' call working with the compliance department. He's washed his hands of the decision.

A nuance that I am sure will be lost on future recruits.

This is part of the reason I HATE dirty whorns. The value system that enables a program to lie to a recruit about the tenure of his prospective position coach (Rumph), then turns around and holds his D-1 career hostage after he signed his LOI is completely f#cked up. And that institution has done this at every level, gaining leverage and then screwing others with it. It's why the whorns cant catch a bid from a REAL conference. They deserve scorn.

Oh, take off the maroon shades. The NCAA was never going to allow him to break his contract.

Lampkin should have brushed up on his espanol. Time for him to get away from mama and man up and attend Junior College.

Ahh, the maroon kool-aid is strong (see what I did there) with the home fans today.

Strong did exactly what was best for the kid. He made him man-up and learn about the meaning of a contract.

And if the roles were reversed you'd be bragging about Coach Swagger doing the same.

when a university won't admit a student athlete because he doesn't qualify (fair enough, if he doesn't qualify, he doesn't qualify) and then won't release him from the "contract" for the sake of athletic competition, something is very wrong. For as much as is spewed about keeping the best interests of student athletes as the top priority, this certainly isn't about a student-athlete's best interest. Its about keeping an athlete off another team and as a consequence diminishes the student's chances at succes. This applies universally... if this had happened at A&M, it would have been equally disgusting.

Well, @ JUCO he'll see better football getting played than what Dirty Whorn puts on for the DKKKRazies. Lampkin has learned a lifelong lesson. . . dont do business with Dirty Whorns.

You're totally OK with the coaches in Austin lying their ass off to this kid, then not letting him go when he gets pissed about it. Noted.

He cannot qualify for admission into tu. He did not break the contract. Impossibility of performance.

He was a risk of not being able to attend tu when Strong offered him. Strong took the chance, the kid didn't make it. But he's been cleared to play for other programs without the language requirement.

Is there any way to get a court to issue an injunction against tu and force them to release him? With their admissions scandals, there's no way they can accept him when he obviously doesn't have the requirements for entrance. So, at this point, why is it even an admissions office issue? They can't stop him from going JUCO, at which point he will never come back, so why do this? Is it solely because they are sure he's going to OU?

Even if a court could get involved, what are the chances that it would be dealt with in a timely manner? The damage is done.

The kid did learn an invaluable lesson. The Horn's use every advantage to get their way including lying. He also learned that folks that wrap themselves in piety, like Charlie, are often the folks you should trust least.

Is anyone surprised when a kid/athlete doesn't gain admission to Stanford?? No, they are not. Granted, Stanford is very careful with their scholarship offers, but not every single one of their commits end up there. It happens.

They kind of take some pride in releasing kids who aren't "Stanford Worthy."

Wish the young man well, and send him on his way. Common decency for adults. There are some adults somewhere in this equation, aren't there??

Typical sip. You narcissists always think the only thing that matters is yourself.
The right thing to do is release the kid from his LOI with the provision he not attend a b12 school.
