If we don't change something right now we're going to lose this game. We're just helping them waste time right now.

Our team isn't hustling as a whole either unfortunately.
Bad combo.
quote:we had 3 in about a minute span. Didn't threaten with any of them though
Lack of offense indicator: No corner kicks.
quote:And what change would that be?
Even Redd and Penalty have gone negative. Is that a sign that change might be needed?

I wonder if her absence during the first half was a disciplinary action.
quote:It may be true that she is nursing an injury, but she seemed close to full speed in the 2nd half when she played, so I'm still thinking she was kept on the sideline in the 1st half due to discipline.
This is why I thought Harvey was not playing in the first half. She was hurt near the end of the Riverside game. When she came into the game last night, her leg had a big wrap on it. I didn't think it was wrapped during warm ups, so I guessed she aggravated it in warm ups and that's why she didn't start. Hadn't thought about a disciplinary aspect.
quote:Excellent analysis. I agree that it's time to do something radical to help the midfield. Moving Pounds back and making Crabtree the lone forward might be a good idea. Maybe try a 3-1-5-1 type formation with the outside mids (Pounds being one of them) helping out the outside backs so they can complete shorter passes into the midfield instead of giving up and just kicking the long ball to no one in particular.
The first half of the game we were playing at about half strength and it clearly showed.
Our midfield is just not good at connecting passes and moving the ball forward. Our back line has played pretty sound D, but they are probably the worst group we have had from an offensive standpoint in a long while. Neither of the outside backs is a reliable passer. Pretty much everyone on the back line is left booming the ball over the top which works sometimes but is not consistent and is even less likely to work once we get behind. Our forwards have generally done an ok job, but they have not had a lot of help. When we boom it over the top they are left hoping the other team screws up or fouls them because they are typically outnumbered and the midfield is slow to support. G has messed with the formation some by playing 3 backs to help in the midfield, but we just don't have any dynamic players outside of Harvey at that position.
Even if Steph were healthy she is more of a holding mid than play maker or scorer. Same with Hajdu and Piper. Thats where losing bates hurts because she is a dynamic player much like pounds. Arrieta may become this one day but she is in a freshman funk right now after looking pretty impressive early in the season.
I would like to know what the deal with Crabtree is. Seems she should be getting more minutes and helping us on the attack. I'd look to play her and Hill more up top and move pounds back to the attacking mid with harvey. We are just getting dominated in the midfield and need to do something. Having Pounds up top and booming it to her is an option but it isn't pretty to watch, the success rate is low, and it doesn't develop anything to better the team in the future.
quote:Loked like she had her hamstring wrapped. I wonder if they luthier in because we looked so bad in the first halfquote:

My thinking as well, nothing else really makes sense.
