Just issue an apology and suspend. This was the wrong route.
Tough way for him to learn, but he should have known that was wrong. He's still an Ag and I still wish him the best going forward. Good luck to him and hopefully he lives and learns.

He made a sincere appology, owned up to it, accepted the concequences, now we can all move on. I wish him the best.
This was the right move. He didn't "lose his head" he was involved in two separate incidents. He needed to be dismissed. I hope he learns from his mistakes, gets his degree, and moves forward.

For a guy who had a tough ending to his football career, this is a sad situation, but hopefully he'll learn from it and is able to get a GA spot somewhere after graduation.

Absolutely not......you do that, and you send the implication (however shortsighted it may be) that we tolerate that kind of crap. And with the offseason Sumlin had last year, that's the last thing he needs hanging over his head. Kid had to go. Tough move but sometimes those have to be made.

As somebody who supervises 30 twenty somethings, this didn't actually have to be done. Specifically, D1 isn't real life. Move him to the back, get him to the sideline . By accounts, he is a good guy with potential.

Maybe if Richardson had whacked somebody once Sumlin could justify giving him another chance. But twice? No way. Sumlin has to do the PR management side of his job too, and that means cutting ties with an idiot who whacked opposing players multiple times while standing on the sidelines and brought us tons of bad press.
Sometimes kids have to learn the hard way.
