Corn fest is this weekend. Good luck to them getting it cleaned up.

Not to pile on, but the Debonaires is their big act this year? In the past they brought in some of the best in Texas Country music, Wade Bowen, Randy Rogers, Reckless Kelly, Granger Smith, Cross Canadian, and so on. The Debonaires are entertaining, but a cover band seems like a step down.

Some good info on Belton and why they aren't releasing water. Apparently the Brazos is supposed to crest over 50' downstream even without us releasing.

It's also illegal to fly drones over the structures.

No doubt. We have taken away all sorts of fun in the past 30 years.
My uncle has para-sailed off Belton Dam before. I used to ride motorcycles below the dam and dig arrow heads on Cedar Creek. Even I have had to "reform". I emphasize that this WAS 30 years ago!.

Since this has already been derailed about lake Belton, I thought this was interesting.

so brownwood is getting pounded and is nearly full. that's good news for buchanan, right?

So Travis is at about 671.5 (less than 10 from full pool) and for the first time in a couple of months has started to decline. Same with Buchanan. Not bad considering where we were until recently.

Now, back to Belton.

Just depends on if they let water out of brownwood, and/or if there is sufficient runoff elsewhere in the basin to put water in the lake

Well, it sets Buchanan up to benefit from the next round of runoff.

Maybe... depends on when the next round of runoff occurs

Those things are so weird. You never know what will and what won't affect the lakes. Sometimes you look at the radar and see that it's pouring and you think the lake will rise 10 feet, then nothing

Other times it rises when you think it won't

It all "just depends"

I will say that most of the water coming into Lake Buchanan is going to come from the San Saba and Colorado basins above the lake. That pecan bayou basin is pretty small potatoes compared to the vast area of the other tributaries. I would imagine water coming out of Lake brownwood would have a pretty small effect on lake buchanan

I just checked the Colorado River Guage near San Saba (which is downstream from where Pecan Bayou enters the Colorado) and the river is not elevated at all

Oh well. We'll see if that changes tonight

Looks like only the northern portion of the Buchanan watershed got any rain in this event.

According to the LCRA map, the Buchanan watershed is from the lake to Santa Anna, San Saba and out to Menard.

Yep. And that probably means very little change in the lake level unless another round of very heavy rain occurs

no way to know what will happen later this summer or early fall with tropical rain, but the best hope for near term rising of the lake will be if we have a strong El Nino winter, which some are predicting

At least the lake is up to close to 998. It was at 986 not too long ago
