We all endanger lives just by getting into a car, whether going 83 or 75. There are multiple roads in TX with 85 mph limits. Depending on the circumstances, 83 might be safer than 75, or not. We have no way of knowing the circumstances.
Yes, and that portion of Highway 6 is marked 75,
not 85. Which is why OP got a ticket. Evidently the traffic engineers/government officials/"'The Man' in a smoke filled room" room thought 75 was the correct speed for that area. The LEO thought OP's "circumstances" warranted a ticket.
