Hans Zimmer comes pretty damn close on occasion though.

His work on Interstellar was such a key part to that movie. The movie would not have been as good without it, to an extent that I haven't seen in a movie in a long long time.

Hans Zimmer was good.
Then he made every single one of his songs sound the same. If you don't believe me, listen to the Gladiator soundtrack and then listen to the first Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack.
quote:
You know that Jerry Goldsmith did the 13th Warrior, not Zimmer, right? I mean it even says it in the background of the video you posted.

Basil Poledouris' score for Conan is still my favorite.
quote:This was the first song I played when I got my Vandersteens.
Interstellar and Crimson Tide are my two favorites from Zimmer.
Mutiny from the Crimson Tide score might be my favorite ever.
quote:
That may be true, but when you download it or purchase the cd, it is called the "original motion picture soundtrack" not the "original motion picture score".
quote:This song can make anything seem epic. I could listen to it with headphones while taking a dump, and that would be the most epic dump in the history of the world.

I used to show 13th Warrior to my classes after reading Beowulf.

It's based on a Crichton novel, isn't it? Similar to Beowulf though.
On a related note, my JR English teacher in HS was a stage performer and would read us Beowulf in Old English. When read aloud, you could understand it, but he showed us his copy in print and it was indecipherable (to me).

Can't help but be reminded of Skyrim at the 2:02 mark.
